The stem clans all originate as cadet branches of the Royal clan Hairaru. Like the Hairaru, all of the stem clans

Yoshiyuki — descended from Princess Yomeyo.
- Matsui — matrilineal branch of the Yoshiyuki via Yoshiyuki Sayano.
- Hateno — matrilineal branch of the Yoshiyuki via Yoshiyuki Hisayo
Date — descended from Princess Harume.
- Kikyō — matrilineal branch of the Date via Date Maneko.
Hirayoshi — descended from Queen Yukiyo's first son, Moriatsu.
Hosokawa — descended from Queen Yukiyo's second son, Kiyohiro.
Sadakatsu — descended from Princess Kumano
Ishida — descended from Prince Arimune
Ito — descended from Prince Takanaka
- Sagara — matrilineal branch of the Ito via Ito Akime
Mori — descended from Princess Naruhime
- Niishi — matrilineal branch of the Mori
- Yamane — matrilineal branch of the Mori
