The LBDA was created to give LCAA graduates a bridge between their collegiate careers and an NBA career with one of the Alliance teams. There are no conferences, just one conglomerate of teams affiliated with an NBA club. All players are on two-way contracts: if signed to a LBDA team, they can transfer between the two freely. If signed to an NBA contract, they can only play for a D-League team on an injury return basis for 10 games only.
