Gustave is a keen sailor and painter.
In 1970 he married Hélène Pinot, a Jewish woman who descends from Moses Ledonitz's daughter Isabella. They have five children: Guillaume (born 1972), Caroline (born 1973), Sophie (born 1975), Mayer (born 1978) and Philippe (born 1981).
