"Notre belle patrie" is the national anthem of Calicathia. It was formerly the national anthem of Croatia. It is commonly referred to as "Notre belle" in Calicathia, a phrase which is also used as a metonym for the country itself. At official events the anthems "La Marseillaise" of France and "Il Canto degli Italiani" of Italy are usually performed as well as the national anthem.
History
The anthem was adopted during the presidency of René Beau Bois. The song was originally the national anthem of Croatia, having been adopted by the Socialist Republic of Croatia, a republic of Yugoslavia, in the year 1972 after having been the unofficial anthem of the Croats for several decades prior. Before being adopted, the nation had no official anthem. The hymn was chosen over "La Marseillaise" and "Il Canto degli Italiani", the anthems of France and Italy, due to its lack of a mention of any country and its relative peaceful nature. Only the first and second original verses were adopted. The versions in all of Calicathia's official languages are official.
