The Ereide or Cançe Scotatrofina 2022 was the 61st edition of the Ereide or Cançe Scotatrofina. The contest took place in Dalera, Ianatea, following Ianatea's victory at the 2021 contest in Oseta, Gana, with the song "Íl lu’em", performed by Ismael Mareva. This was the third time Ianatea hosted the contest, having previously hosted in 1971 and 1993. Organized by the Sercate Scotatrofina eu Telefise ía Redio (SSTR), the contest was held at the Dalera Convention Center on August 1, 2022. The show was hosted by Emiliano Casaus, Alina Ruiz and Eliana Mina. 29 states and 3 overseas territories took part in the contest. The winner was the Romosea Islands with the song "Segi tue corth", performed by Valentina Obregon. This was the Romosea Islands' first win in the contest; Chastre, Monce, Adarse and Atalon rounded out the top five. The SSTR reported that the contest had an audience of 174 million viewers across the nation and saw an increase of 3% in the 15–24 year old age range.
Venue
The 2022 contest took place in Ianatea for the third time after 1971 and 1993 following the state's victory at the 2021 edition with the song "Íl lu’em", performed by Ismael Mareva. The contest took place at the Dalera Convention Center. The convention center serves as a venue for many events, including concerts, exhibitions, trade fairs, and conferences. The fairground has several halls and pavilions, plus a large outdoor space. 150 million Troyevans was the venue budget agreed upon by the SSTR. This represents a larger budget than that allotted in the 2021 Contest in Oseta.
Bidding
After Ianatea's victory in Oseta, Ianatea Governor Alonso Aguila stated that the 2022 contest would be held in Dalera, but this was yet to be confirmed by the SSTR. SSTR argued that Dalera was the only city with the required capacity, venues, and infrastructure to hold the show, but clarified the following day that no final decision had been taken regarding both the host city and venue. On October 21, 2021, Ianatea was officially confirmed as the host state and on October 25, the SSTR formally opened the bidding process for cities interested in hosting the 2022 contest. The basic requirements to select a host city were set out in a document presented by the SSTR following the win in Oseta:
- A suitable venue that can accommodate around 10,000 spectators.
- An international press centre for 1,500 journalists with adequate facilities for all the delegates.
- A good distribution of hotel rooms, at different price categories, able to accommodate at least 2,000 delegates, accredited journalists and spectators.
- An efficient transport infrastructure, including a nearby international airport with readily available connections with the city, venue, and hotels.
Besides Dalera, other cities signalled their interest in bidding to host the 2022 contest: Talavira, Iraceta and Valadez. On November 22, 2021, the SSTR announced Dalera as the host city, with the Dalera Convention Center as the selected venue for the 2022 contest.
Format
Presenters
On April 15, 2022, SSTR announced that the contest would be hosted by Emiliano Casaus, Alina Ruiz and Eliana Mina. It was the first time since 2013 that the contest did not feature four presenters. Casaus and Mina hosted together on the main stage during the show, while Ruiz would spend most of her time backstage with the contestants.
Opening and Interval Acts
SSTR released the first details regarding the opening and interval acts for the final on June 5, 2022. The opening act featured Ianatean based singers Bella Suena and Aguayo performing "Emor Meichór" and "Corth Usede", respectively, which was followed by a parade of flags introducing the 32 participants. The interval acts included Ismael Mareva, who performed his new single "Agia nuixa" (which was also a smash hit in Scotatrova at the time) and his winning song "Íl lu’em" (the latter in a duet with Maraguan singer Armando Pousa), and electronic music performances by Gallo featuring Dante Sarmiento and Doria Gonzalez.
Participants
The running order for the final was revealed on July 25. 29 states and 3 territories participated in the final, with all 32 participants eligible to vote. The final took place on August 1 at 20:00 WEST.
