The Medieval Kingdom of Danton is a nation located in the region of Dalrawduel. It is a monarchy with a singular King as the head of government. It was founded on November 23rd, 2013 (by years on Earth).

Danton is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its ban on automobiles. Its compassionate population of 687 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Religion & Spirituality, although Law & Order and Education are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Dantonakhan. The average income tax rate is 37%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Military spending recently hit a new high, the arms industry is strictly regulated, the government is outsourcing itself, and refugees from other nations are flocking to Danton's border. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Danton's national animal is the Vistabonian Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Ghant.

History

Danton was founded by a group of Terrangelian refugees who settled on a vast plain of fertile land in the far east. After gaining aid from the surrounding civilizations of elves, dwarves, warlogs, and men, they began to form many great cities and soon extended their influence widely enough to form an entire nation of their own. It came with a great battle against those who opposed their conquest, but the refugees and their followers were victorious, and made peace with all their other neighbors. Their leader, Uril Furecoson, became the King of the newly formed realm and later married the elven maiden Beithelia, who became his queen.

Beithelia bore Uril two sons, Menledur and Ropan. Upon the deaths of his parents many years later, Menledur took the throne as the second king of Danton. This followed some dispute over how the system of inheritance was to operate, in which several citizens opposed his reign to begin with.

Yet Menledur proved himself a wise king, and won great renown through his conquest of northern territory and his hosting of the great Council of Menledur. He also led the war against the corrupt government of Mulof in order to end the oppression of the nation's people.

Since its foundation, Danton has grown into a prosperous realm and has gained great economic and militaristic strength. The same royal line persists today, still under the rule of Menledur. There is no queen at present, leaving Menledur's brother Ropan as the current heir to the throne.

Government

The system that is currently in use is a monarchy, unlike any other nation nearby. The King is the Head of State, currently Menledur Urilson.

The king inherits the position from his father. In the event of ruler's death where the king has no sons, his wife may take the throne as queen. Should she be unable to take up the task, their oldest daughter may do so instead. In lack of a wife or children, a king is to be succeeded by his oldest brother, and if that becomes impossible, his oldest sister. Should no heir be apparent in any way, then the highest nobles should select one of their number to take up the crown.

Royal Family

The Royal Family of Danton has no power save their head, but still retain a grand style of living. The current family consists of King Menledur and his brother Ropan, their parents both being dead and neither of them being married.
