Gabriel d'Ipswatten

Baron Gabriel d'Ipswatten (born 1960) is a Braslander nobleman and diplomat.

He was born at in 1960 Wattenburg, the family estate, as the first child and only son of Baron Julius d'Ipswatten and Viscountess Elise d'Henlis.

He was educated at Rottendorf College and later studied Political Science in England. Between these periods, he served for two years in the Royal Army.

In the early eighties, Gabriel fell in love with Princess Maria Olimpia, the sister of King Paul II. She corresponded to his feelings, but a marriage was blocked by the royal family, as they expected the princess to marry a foreign monarch. However, the years passed and no appropriate royal suitor appeared, so in 1989, after the King's wedding, the princess was allowed to marry Gabriel. The ceremony took place in 1990 at the Royal Palace's Chapel. The couple has two sons: Louis (born 1993) and Philipp (born 1995). By a special decree, Philipp will become Viscount d'Henlis after his paternal grandmother's death.

During the republican regime, the family stayed in Brasland, although they were harrassed by the government. Most of their properties were confiscated and Gabriel lived on the income he received teaching at the University of Markund. Although they were under strict vigilance from the government, the couple secretly supported the dissidents, becoming links between them and the exiled royal family.

After the restoration of the monarchy, Gabriel's properties were returned and he was appointed Ambassador in New Chalcedon. He resigned in 2013 and since he has continued his activities at the University of Markund, as well as paying closer attention to the management of his estates.
