Note: Both Marcel Kidman's "Argentinian Girl" and Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" are both credited as the top selling singles of 2006, despite neither reaching number one. The former peaked at #2 and the latter at #3 and both spent the remainder of the year on the Hot 100 after their releases ("Argentinian Girl" on February 4 and "Crazy" on March 23). They are both credited with the the sale of 8,359,000 million copies in 2006. "Argentinian Girl" is currently certified 9x Platinum while "Crazy" currently holds a 8x Platinum certification.
The top selling number one single was Shakira and Wyclef Jean's "Hips Don't Lie" which sold 8,144,000 copies in 2006 and is currently certified 10x Platinum.
