A Constituent Assembly election was held in Darkmania in October 1869, the very first in the darkmanian history, after the Democratic Spring in March that year. 251 seats were up for grabs with the aim to write a constitution, as well as making new laws for the new democracy.

As politcal parties wasen`t officaly formed until 1871, all who were elected members of parlament were technically independent. However, ideologies for the independent candidates were prevlant and many formed groups who wound later form the basis of polcial parties in Darkmania. As such, its often listed as seperate groups while talking about the 1869 election.

The low turnout rates are due to the only eligible to vote were men "of good service toward Darkmania", and by the fact that democracy was a new thing in Darkmania. The result resulted in a massive win for the Reformists, who was the push for the Democratic Spring. The first darkmanian constitution was approved on 10. April 1871 and was effective on 10. May 1871, resulting in the "Reformation" period in darkmanian history. The constitution is still in effect today, forming the basis of darkmanian politics and the constitution are incredibly popular to this day.

The first Prime Minister of Darkmania was Yrëg Asvärg for the Reformists.
