ARK (an abbrevation of Altersk rikskringhälsing - Alterran National Broadcasting) is the Alterran government-owned public radio and television broadcasting company. Its main purpose is providing impartial public-service broadcasting in Alterrum. ARK currently broadcasts three national TV channels and four national radio stations, in addition to several digital radio stations. All TV channels and radio stations are also accessible online. ARK is a member of the Universal Broadcasting Union.

Channels

Television

  • ARK1 - general-interest programming.
  • ARK2 - state-specific programming, such as regional news, as well as hosting and broadcasting debates and educational and factual programs.
  • ARK3 - cultural and children-oriented programming.

Radio

  • AR P1 - targets the entire population.
  • AR P2 - focuses on current affairs and culture - news, debates, analysis, society, science, community programs.
  • AR P3 - focuses on youth culture, with an emphasis on music; also humor, entertainment and health education.
  • AR P4 - mainly a music channel, featuring classical, lounge and electronic music. Also carries programming in minority languages and some educational programs.

P1 and P2 are each broadcast from 25 different local studios during daytime, but switch to national programming in the evening.
