Adrianos Fabius, 31st Duke of Paphlagonia

General Adrianos Fabius, 31st Duke of Paphlagonia (15 December 1686 – 27 December 1752), styled Earl of Kastamonu until 1750, was a Diadochian nobleman soldier, politician and landowner.

Early life

Fabius was the only son of Karolos Fabius, 30th Duke of Paphlagonia; by his first wife, the heiress Lady Helena Gabras, the daughter of the Duke of Thraceponte.

Public life

Fabius served in the Parliament of Diadochia from 1707 to 1710 and again from 1710 to 1724. In 1750 he succeeded his father in the dukedom.

Land,titles, family

Adrianos died in 1752. He was one of the richest landowners in Diadochia, but he died with no surviving son to his estates were split after his death. The dukedom of Paphlagonia passed to a distant cousin,Stefanos Fabius, 32nd Duke of Paphlagonia. The dukedom of Thraceponte and most of the traditional Gabras estates passed to his daughter and her husband (including Fo̱teiná Castle, Thraceponte House and Epitycheís House). Géfyrapýrgou House passed to the duke's nephew the Baron of Didymoteicho.

Paphlagonia had two children:

  • George Fabius (died young)
  • Helena Fabius Gabras (later Duchess of Thraceponte in her own right, family took the Gabras name.)
