(bis) |
Risen from ruins And facing the future, Let us serve you for the good, Soltsteed, noble fatherland. Old woes we must overcome And we overcome them united Because we so must succeed, So that the sun beautiful as never Over Soltsteed shines. (repeat) |
From the ruins risen newly, To the future turned, we stand. Let us serve thy good weal truly, Soltsteed, noble fatherland. Triumph over bygone sorrow, Can in unity be won. For we shall attain a morrow, When over our Soltsteed, There is shining sun. (repeat) |
Luck en fried mog sie vörlennen Tö Soltsteed, åd vaderlann. Å de weut langt after frieden, Reicht tö de vouken jier hann. Ås wie brouderlik ys einen, Til yggdrasill wie shå stann. Lät de löcht van fried äriesen, Sö dat de son shön ås niet Åver Soltsteed shient. (bis) |
May happiness and peace be granted To Soltsteed, ancient fatherland. All the world longs for peace, Reach your hand out to the peoples. If brotherly we unite ourselves, To eternity we shall stand. Let the light of peace arise, So that the sun beautiful as never Over Soltsteed shines. (repeat) |
May both peace and joy inspire, Soltsteed, ancient fatherland. Peace is all the world’s desire, To the peoples lend your hand. In fraternity united, To eternity we shall stand. Let all paths by peace be lighted, So over our Soltsteed, There is shining sun. (repeat) |
Custom and law
The Universal Broadcasting Code dictates that all national television and radio stations play the national anthem at the beginning and end of the broadcasting day (or at 07:00 and 22:00 local time if broadcasting 24 hours) and that television stations provide subtitles in Soltsteedish and English. Internationally broadcast stations, such as Soltsteedish Televisienetwork, extend this custom to foreign broadcasts, playing the Soltsteedish national anthem subtitled in the local language, followed by the national anthem of the local country subtitled in Soltsteedish (if said anthem has lyrics). The anthem is also traditionally played at the start of sporting and orchestral events and the start of school assemblies and the school day.
Custom dictates that during the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all people present except members of the Soltsteedish Defence Forces in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Members of the Defence Forces in uniform should give the military salute during the entire anthem, while members and veterans of the Defence Forces not in uniform may opt to give the military salute if they so choose. Men not in uniform wearing headdresses should remove them with their right hand and hold them over the left shoulder while their hand is over their heart. If no flag is present, all individuals should face towards the music and act in the same manner as if the flag were present. However, these customs are not universally observed in all circumstances. When the national anthem is played at sporting events, for example, it is still considered obligatory to stand at attention, but singing along to the anthem, rather than saluting, is customary.
