Alois von und zu Beierwald

Count Alois von und zu Beierwald (1735-1797) was a Braslander nobleman and the head of the Comital House of Beierwald. He was the son of Count Lothar V von und zu Beierwald.

In 1758 he married Countess Mathilde von Falkenhausen, with whom he had seven children: Oskar (born 1759), Elisabeth (born and died 1760), Wilfried (born and died 1761), Moritz (born 1763), Georgine (born 1764), Philipp (born 1766; priest) and Angelika (born 1769). Mathilde died in 1774, and that same year Alois remarried to her sister, Countess Gertrud von Falkenhausen. They had nine children: Mathilde (born 1776), Charlotte (1778-1797), Wilhelm (born 1780), Margarethe (born 1782), Lothar (born and died 1783), Adelheid (born 1785), Henriette (born 1788), Ulrich (1789-1790), Gertrud (born and died 1791). Gertrud died in childbirth.

Alois renovated Burg Beierwald, his family's ancestral seat, which is one of the most impressive residences in Brasland, located dramatically in the top of a hill above a lake and a valley with the glorious Alps in the background. The castle has served as inspirations for novels, movies and even operas.

He died in 1797.
