Anhur (pronounced /ælɑstek diːn nɑstjə/) is a heavily developed massive desertous nation located on the Southern Island on the Versutian Federation, bordered to the north by Galifreyan Time Lords, to the east by Koderland, to the south by Artstotszka, and to the west by Rapallo and New Ryafell. It has a population of around 1,333 million inhabitants and its capital city is Ciano, although chief rival cities to the capital include Kelun, Tala, Sindara and Jel’Dol. It is the current Foreign Affairs representative for the Verustian Federation.

Anhur’s people have not had a unified internal language for several thousand years and as such usually fall back on English which is called Base within Anhur. Economically, Anhur enjoys a very stable developed economy focused around Tourist, Mining, and Heavy Industry. Geographically, most of the country is engulfed in a massive desert with space mountain ranges that act as a wind barrier for the neighboring nations. Anhur consists of a 17 mostly autonomous City-States/Provinces which come together to form a national council to act as a unified body outside of itself.

History

The Anhurian Desert has a history that can be traced back almost 7,000 years. Stemming from a cousin species of the modern Human species. They originally where very similar albeit the Anhur Species being more adapted to Desert life than Humans. They were originally several dozen bands of nomadic tribes that wandered the land. Until they started to settle down and build cities which quickly banded together and created several small nations.

First Era - Organization

Around 4,800 B.C.E. or 2,500 A.D.M. the first three major Anhurian States organized. A Democratic Bastion the Na'heset Federation, the Royal Dominion of the Kingdom of Sobek, and finally the Religious Fanatics of the Telvay Theocracy. Initially there was peace but due to ideology it did not last and the Theocracy and Kingdom erupted in war less than 200 years after their founding. Concurrently the first tech revolution swept through the desert advancing metallurgy farther than anything else. Sobek capitalizes on this and swiftly defeats Telvay, executing their holy leaders and turning it into a vassal before finally annexing it altogether. The Federation in desperation forces its people into a major population boom and eventually a technological boom, after hundreds of years of tension and advancement they entered a state considered 'modern' by today's standards. Sobek stagnated at this point but the Federation did not and reached 'post-modern' status. This prompted the Nobles of Sobek to launch a preemptive strike on the Federation. But due to technological and manpower differences Sobek was eventually broken up and absorbed into the Federation.

Second Era - Millennium of Tears

While the first era ended on a mostly high note ending in 3,329 B.C.E. The Federation was unities although cracks were forming, these cracks in the next few hundred years would lead to millions of deaths. But until then the Federation was riding the wave of a golden age that lead to the same rapid development earlier. The Federation started expanding into the areas genetic engineering. Meddling with the every section of the Anhurian DNA before adding an entire adaptable strand. They also added in several specialized organs into the Anhurian Genetics, this is when the modern Anhurian got their new biological forms and separated them heavily from Humans.

Though, by the time that this happened though. The Federation was starting to crumble, and a war was on the horizon. The nation was falling apart and the people were revolting. Leading to a full civil war leading to the deaths of nearly one billion of the nation's people. The war started to die down but at the cost of their technology, which had started to fail. And just when their technology failed and the people thought it could not get worse. The desert erupted almost vengefully, a sandstorm that lasted almost five centuries that struck down most of the nation's remaining people, almost in retribution for the Federation's corruption and misdeeds. By the time the sandstorm died down, less than one percent of all the people in Anhur were left alive and condemned to a nomadic lifestyle once more.
