Carl, Duke von Kerlich (1700-1768) was a Braslander nobleman. He was the son of Duke Alfred III von Kerlich.

In 1726 he married Princess Marie Therese, one of the daughters of King Frederick I. The marriage was a political alliance in order to strenghten ties between the Royal House and the very powerful House of Kerlich. The couple had TEN children: Alfred (born and died 1727), Charlotte (born 1728), Caroline (born 1729), Rudolf (born 1730), Günther (born 1732), August (1732-1733), Wilhelmine (born 1733), Sophie (born 1734) Adelheid (born 1736) and Marie Therese (born 1738). The Princess died after giving birth to her youngest daughter. Carl was devastated and never remarried, although he did have affaires.

He remained quite close to the Royal House and his children usually played with their royal cousins. The Kerlichs were aware of their status but wanted a stable and united Brasland, so they gave their support to the Crown, contributing in this way to strenghtening the House of Balkronn's position. In return for their loyalty, and also as a way of securing it, his daughter Sophie became Queen of Brasland through her marriage to King Frederick III.
