Baron Carl d'Ipswatten (1811-1889) was a Braslander nobleman.

In 1836 he fell in love with Princess Louise, the youngest daughter of King George I. The princess, a vivacious and very smart girl, rejected all royal suitors, determined to marry Carl. But the King opposed his daughter's marriage to a mere baron, ordering Carl not to contact Louise. Obedient, the Baron complied and they did not speak for several years. Louise suffered terribly and her family intervened in her favor. Upon Queen Amalia's insistence, the King finally accepted the match. The couple married in 1841 at a discreet ceremony.

Carl and Louise had six children: Amalia (born 1843), Johannes (born 1845), Vincenz (1846-1847), Georg (1848-1850), Katharina (1850-1863) and Helena (born 1851).

The Baron devoted most of his time to the management of his estates, as well as to hunting and supporting different causes.

He died in 1889.
