The Republic of The Cascadian State is a fledgling, devout nation, remarkable for its burgeoning Grizzly Bear population. The hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million The Cascadians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized government concentrates mainly on Religion & Spirituality, although Education and Law & Order are on the agenda. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 18%. A substantial private sector is dominated by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry.

Crime is a problem. The Cascadian State's national animal is the Grisly Bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Christian Dollar

Government

The Cascadian State is a federal presidential constitutional republic. The federal government is divided into three branches with state and local governments having specific powers. The nation has universal suffrage for everyone over 18, who has not been convicted of a felony within the last ten years. The government and constitution are modeled largely after that of the United States, of which Cascadia seceded from(as well as from Canada with British Columbia and Yukon) in 2008.

Executive Branch

The Cascadian federal executive branch is lead by the Cascadian President, elected popularly nationwide every four years by popular vote. The President appoints secretaries of the various executive departments, that are created by the Congress.

The President also holds the title of Commander-in-Chief of all Cascadian Armed Forces.

Legislative Branch

The Cascadian Legislative Branch consists of the Cascadian Congress, divided into two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives. This branch holds all law making ability at the federal level. The Senate consists of two senators from each state and the House has one representative per five hundred thousand citizens in a state. Senators are elected by all state citizens at large in staggered six-year terms. Representatives are elected within their district of a state every two years.

Judicial Branch

The judicial branch consists of the Supreme Court, its five justices appointed by the President for life. The justices choose among themselves who the Chief Justice shall be when the position becomes vacant. The Supreme Court serves to interpret the Constitution to determine legality of federal, state, and local laws, as well as a "court of last result" having the final appellate jurisdiction in the nation. The Congress has the right to create minor courts as the feel necessary.
