All colonies have an independent government as well as an elected President and have a vote in laws passed by the Cossack Senate. However, to represent the Cossack government, a Governor is appointed by the Imperator and is approved by the Senate.

Revision as of 13:55, 21 October 2018

The Holy Decreeist Empire of Cossack Khanate is a sprawling, powerful nation. It has a medium-sized government, and is ruled by a benevolent imperator, Supreme Royal Commander Cyprus Khan. The people are represented through an elected Senate, which acts as the legislative body with the approval of the Imperator. Although the Imperator is given almost supreme power over the populace, the current government runs as a tyranny-by-majority state.

Economically, it is capitalist and well-off, and is a supplier of both raw materials and finished goods to other nations. Arms Manufacturing is the nation’s main industry, and Cossack manufacturers rank in the top 1% in the industry (As of FY2018 Fiscal Year).

The spiritual populace are mostly devotees of Hinduism, and this is also the official state religion. There is also a small tribal minority (.14%) that believes in a religion that has not been able to be described. The national language is Cossack, which draws roots from Latin and Kyrian.

History

--Pre-Modern History--

The ethnic Cossack tribes are understood to have migrated from Latin and Kyrian speaking lands, and settled in the modern-day Vaishalle province. They soon established an agricultural society. Over the centuries, they slowly moved north and to the west, establishing scores of small kingdoms as they went.

In about the 1400s, a ruler of a kingdom in modern-day Kalir by the name of Emperor Qias decided to unite the Cossack-speaking peoples into one empire. He took over the modern-day provinces of Ram, Selvik, Plaav, Sen, and Polorad. He was killed in battle, but not before his son Qias II was able to take the throne. He realized his father’s dream of uniting all the kingdoms into one empire. This Qiasian dynasty lasted for over 250 years, and the achievements in art, science, medicine, and other cultural fields gave rise to the beginning of Cossack nationalism in what is now called the First Cossack Awakening.

--1700-1900s--

After the last Qiasian emperor left the throne in about 1712, a military general by the name of Isak Tomasz took power. He was more interested in expanding the nation and its wealth than aiding cultural accomplishments. He focussed his resources on conquering the modern-day province of Montz, which had been under neighboring rival country Helsent’s control but was inhabited by a Cossack populace. Once he achieved this, he moved on to form a pact with New Prussia and the Kyrian Empire (now Night Regime). He used these allies and many more to build a powerful naval force on the coasts of new colonies. He then conquered many islands and small coastal nations, and used the raw materials found there to enrichen the new Cossack Empire. Isak Tomasz died at his home in Vaishalle, in 1759. Although his actions brought riches to the Empire, the colonies eventually rebelled and were granted independence by 1924.

Ideas and materials arriving to the Empire through these former colonies enabled the Cossacks to begin industrialization and modernization.

--1900-1990--

In 1986, The Communist Bloc was in power over the lands of the Khanate. However, they were also fighting a well-backed uprising in the northwest, from the native Rejavikians. Communist troops stationed in the West attempted to move in to crush the uprising, leaving the Khanate lands relatively unguarded. A young captain in the local anti-communist militia of Selvik, Cyprus Khan, decided that it was the right time. Gathering his troops and some other units, about 50 militia troops stormed the Communist administration building in Selvik, killing all Communist personnel. Immediately, the Communist People’s Revolutionary Armed Forces sent over 200 troops, scouring Selvik for the hidden rebels. First shots were fired between Khan’s unit and PRAF troops. One of Khan’s troops was shot in the arm, and 6 PRAF troops were killed and 2 wounded. On December 6, 1986, PRAF troops stormed into a school and took 9 students hostage. They demanded that all rebels come out and lay down arms. At 4:14 P.M, Khan lead a covert operation of 20 men to the meeting site. They shot all the troops holding the children at once, and killed the rest. At one point, a PRAF troop attempted to sneak up on Khan, but a child attacked him. The PRAF troops turned and shot the child, and the child died of injuries the next day. After this horrific incident, the enraged Cossack populace began a nationalist rebellion against the ruling Communists. After planned successful assassinations of top PRAF Generals, the Governor of the Cossack lands agreed to recognize the Khanate’s independence and non-agression for 15 years, in the presence of many international powers. Khan was almost unanimously elected by a people’s representative to be the de facto Supreme Leader, and he built the government and had it running by 1990.

--Wars (1992-2003)--

The Khanate has had several direct wars in its history, not including aid wars and support wars

1st Cossack-Versailles Isles War (4 Days): On October 28, 1992, a platoon of the Versailles Armed Forces camped in a unclaimed tract of land near Cossack colony Dzera. After reports of gunfire between Dzerian Border Patrol troops and the encamped platoon, The Khanate sent a warning to the Versailles Isles government to remove their troops, but they refused. After this, the Khanate declared war, demanding that 10,000 Cossack guilders ( 19,000 U.S dollars), be paid in reparations. The VAF Platoon charged over the border, attempting to claim a 0.6 kilometer radius. The DBP responded by sending 2 Units of backup. The final battle ended with the platoon’s surrender, with 7 dead on the VAF side and no casualties on the Dzerian/Cossack side. Ended November 1st, 1992

Spear Danes Militant Incident (2 weeks): Cossack troops were in holding of the Lower Asylum Islands. In May 1994, Spear Dane troops invaded the southmost island. However, they were not following orders from the government, the invasion was to capture a wanted Spear Dane rebel. In the process, they wrecked a Cossack store and went into hiding. The Cossack store-owner reported it to the local military administration, who dispatched a unit to finish the Militants. The ensuing standoff took 46 minutes, where a negotiation was reached and the militants paid for the repairing of the shop and extra for inconvenience. Peace was reached and no war declared officially.

Cossack-Balder War (1997-1998): In 1997, Balder had a growing colony on the borders of the Khanate. To suppress the growing communist threat, SRC Khan dispatched two Infantry Regiments, a tank unit, and a recon and special operations team with semi-military group Sniper Regiment. The Cossacks conducted a blitzkrieg-type attack, leveling the administration and military buildings. Lead by Commodore-Major Harrison Lanchester, they converged on the Balder troops from all directions, forcing them into the capital. The following siege lasted for 2.5 weeks, and the remaining Balder forces fled the city and attempted to fly out of the country. However, they were confronted by a squadron of fighters from the Cossack Royal Air Force, and were shot down. Only five Balder troops made it out of the colony alive. The colony was placed under military administration for a month, before being sold to Neo Belgique for 10 million Cossack Guilders (19 Million U.S Dollars).

Alliance of the North Insurgency (2002-2003): The Alliance of the North, a union of several powerful city-states built deep into the Ice Quadrant closest to the Khanate, was an isolationist, militaristic, and almost mercenary nation, lead by Dictator Samuel Flamme. Leading up to 2002, it had argued over land borders with neighboring Rejavik, one of the Khanate’s closest political friends. However, on April 19, 2002, North’s forces invaded a small Rejavik town on the border. Enraged, Rejavik declared war. As per treaty, the Cossack Khanate declared war a day later. By this time, the town had been seized by Northern forces. 2 Cossack paratrooper units and 5 Rejavikian infantry units arrived in the town 5 days after the invasion. After fierce and drawn out fighting, the North’s forces fought a retreat into their land. However, the Rejavikian government wanted the North finished off. As backup, 100 Cossack Infantry units, 16 tank units, and 10 squadrons of fighters and bombers arrived on the border on April 30th, 2002. Rejavik troops numbered 2,000 infantry, 50 tanks, and 35 planes. The Rejavik-Cossack combined forces were lead by Cossack Konzul-General Rihat Dewstaad, and commenced the invasion by charging 10 km on a semi-circle basis, so the front is curved. The force captured and burned towns along the way, facing medium resistance but overpowering them easily. They stormed one of the 10 cities. The following battle holds the Cossack record for the coldest Cossack battle ever fought, at -11 Celcius. Due to this many troops depended on aircraft attack to fight. In the end, they killed all but one unit of AoN troops. The North’s government refused to surrender, so the Cossack-Rejavik force decided to call for increased air attacks. 95% of every city was destroyed between June 10-December 2. From a small town, Dictator Samuel Flamme of the Alliance of the North surrendered to Konzul-General Rihat Dewstaad of The 1st Cossack-Rejavik Attack Force on January 3, 2003. 80% percent of the land was gifted to Rejavik, 10% percent was made a Cossack colony, and the remaining was made a military encampment for both the Khanate and Rejavik.
