Crime in Narsora is overall relatively low although crimes such as petty theft (pickpockets, shoplifting and property theft) are common.
Types of Crime
Murder
For 2018 the murder rate per 100,000 was 1.76 or 478 murders, a 14.45% increase from the previous year. Authorities attribute this to an increase in murders committed as a result of domestic violence situations, personal arguments and grudges. According to annual statistics published by the Ministry of Interior in January 2019, 50% or 239 murders in 2018 were due to domestic violence incidences, personal arguments or grudges, which is a 43.97 increase over the previous year. This is similar to neighboring countries for the same time frame. 49% or 234 murders were of all other types and 1% or 4 murders were hate crime related.
Sexual Assault
The incident of sexual assaults for 2018 per 100,000 persons was 25.01 which correlates to 6,786 rapes for the entire year.
Hate Crimes
The incident of hate crimes rose between 2013 to 2018, from 808 to 1,602. Researchers blame this on a number of factors including, after effects from the economic recession experienced by the country from 2008-2012, persons whom are unhappy with their daily lives and those seeking some form of vengeance.
Domestic Violence
Domestic violence remains one of the most tense topics of concern for the country as the rate of domestic violence related murders has risen steadily between 2013 to 2018. In 2016, one of these incidences lead to the deaths of three people including a police officer.
