Daminy (/Dá'míni/ Damanian: Oтечество) officialy The Republic of Daminy is a nation in Moneylania, situated in the Moneylanianic Sea in a region known as Uzzmor. Daminy is the second largest island in the Moneylanianic Sea at 446 550km2. It borders onto the Sibarian Sea, to the east you have the East Uzzmorial Islands and south you have Auxillary. Daminy is known as a tourist hotspot and is also known for its technological inovations.

Daminy was discovered by Sibarian Explorers in 1477. They occupied it until it's independence in 1589. That changed in WWI & WWII when they occupied them untill its final release in 1947. Since then, Daminy has tried to expand its foreign relations policies to some succsess over the second half of the 2020's.

For at least 40,000 years before the first Sibarian settlement in the late 15th century, Daminy was inhabited by indigenous tribes. After the Sibarian discovery of the islands by Sibarian explorers in 1478, Daminy's western half was claimed by Sibaria in 1479 and initially settled through transportation to the colony of New Vladivastak from 1 April 1490. The population grew steadily in subsequent decades.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Defence and Commerce are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Youthsville. The average income tax rate is 82%, and even higher for the wealthy.

Daminy is a diverse nation, with the largest Auxillarian population outside of Auxillary. Major ethnic groups include Damanian, Sibarian, Scuroian and Auxillarian. Around 76% are Damanians. The offical religion is Sibarian Orthodoxy.

History

Pre-History

Human habitation of the island is estimated to have begun between 42,000 and 48,000 years ago. At the time of Sibarian settlement in the late 15th century, most tribesmen were hunter-gatherers. The eastern coasts and waters of Daminy were visited sporadically by fishermen from the west.

Discovery and Colonisation

In 1478, the Sibarian traders, captained by Mikahel Gorbachov, set sail for Platacia, attempting to trade spices and different kinds of materials with the locals. They were blown off course and started heading north. Within a day of getting blown of course, they landed on the island. The men on Daminy started to set up a new colony and named it New Vladivastak (Now known as Trosnikovo). They proceeded to name the island, Daminy (Sibarian for new discovery)

Mikahel Gorbachov

The first colony of Daminy was established with the arrival of a Sibarian fleet of 20 vessels under the command of Captain Boris Archeon in January 1501. It consisted of over 5 thousand settlers. A few days after arrival at New Vladivastak, most of the fleet moved towards the center of Daminy, where the settlement of Archeon was established, on the 4 Febuary 1501.

Archeon offered fresh farmable land and a safe supply of water coming from the north, with it described as being, 'one of the finest discoveries man has ever found'. More and more people started to arrive on Daminy's shores, and by 1507, Daminy had over 15 thousand people located across New Vladivastak and Archeon. Mikahel Gorbachov, now in his early 40's, became the first Govenor-General of the Combined Colony of New Vladivastak and Archeon. He governed the colony until his death in 1537.

Sibarian Rule and Independence

During the early 16th century, the colony expanded at a rapid pace, setting up townships far and wide. By the early 1530's, New Vladivastak became the bustling city of the Moneylanianic Sea. Imports and Exports were coming in and out of the town, people started to arrive and settle down and it slowly became the trading city across the sea. The Colony's army, supplied by the Sibarian Army, began to chart the map of the island and set up new command posts, which eventually became towns of their own.

A picture of Chorvio, the southern most island

The colony then took it a step further and took over the Damanian Islands. These islands would later become a tourist destination, known today as Chorvio and the Island States. The command post of the Damanian Islands, was set up on the southern most island, known as Chorvio. This command post was used to look out for any pirates or hostile alligned personel. As more army personel started to move to the post, so did the families, and friends of the men. Chorvio, aswell, became a new township of the colony.

From 1489 to 1589, the Sibarians ruled over Daminy. They would get most of the profits that the colony produced, and anyone who moved to the colony would be consided Sibarian under law. The Sibarians, over the years, were begining to be hated over the colony. Mostly because of the high taxes the Sibarians placed on a new colony, and the harsh methods used if they didn't pay the tax. These methods consisted of lashing and public shame. There was a massive gap between the rich and the poor on the island, and the Sibarians were only making it worse.

In 1537, when Mikahel Gorbachov suddenly passed away in his New Vladivastak home, the Sibarians within the colony, decided that it was time for the colony to leave the hands of the mainland Sibarians. They sent in a petition to the King that stated independence. The Sibarians reacted furiously, raising all taxes on the island. After years of tax and punishment, the colony had enough. On the 8th of August 1588, the colony revoulted against the Sibarian Forces stationed on the islands.

Over the cource of the year, the Colony's citizens started to revolt. The first revolt was on the 8th of August, 1588, were revolts brewed all over New Vladivastak. The Sibarian Colonial Guards had the upper hand, with newer and more modern weapons. However, the actions of General Eli Farvik cost the Sibarians a much needed boost to win the revolts. He decided that the forces should protect the inner portion of the city, allowing for the citizens to surround them and block off all trade routes. This decision allowed the citizens to fight against the Sibarians.

A romanticisation of the revolt

The citizens eventually gained access to Sibarian weapons and started to fight them with their own weapons. Eventually, on the 1st of December, 1588, the Sibarians decided to pull out of Daminy after months of revolts. However, Daminy wasn't officialy recognised as a nation regionwide. Finnaly, a proclemation of independence came on the 2nd of March, 1589. Archeon was voted capital of the nation with Samwell Archeon, son of Boris Archeon, as its leader.

Archeon Period 1589-1790

The Archeon Dynasty proved a vital point in Daminy's history. It formed the basis of modern Daminy. When Samwell Archeon was anointed as king of Daminy, he started to work on civil right reforms and began preserving the culture of the new nation. He began to strengthen the small military, with new equipment, and began appointing advisers. Samwell's reign lasted for 36 years, until his death in 1628. He was aged 68. His son, Puvilian Archeon, aged 18, then took the throne. Puvilian began one of the most major feat's within the Archeon dynasty. He began to hire workers from all over Daminy to start the constuction of the Asklervac Castle, named after the region of land Archeon was built on. This castle would soon become the house of which the King would live in.

Construction of Asklervac Castle began in 1632, 4 years into Puvilian Archeon's reign. The building process was long, lasting longer then 10 years. During the 6th year of construction, supplies started to run dry. Stone and Marble Deposits started to deplete. However, once they expanded completely to the south of Daminy they discovered hundreds of Marble deposits. These marble deposits were mined during this period. However, near the end of the constuction of the castle, there was a union strike, were most builders, miners and carpenters demanded more money from not only the employers, but from the king as well. This led Puvilian Archeon to force the miners to work. If they didn't work, they would be wipped, threatned or even thrown in prison.

Asklervac Castle

In 1642, the castle was officialy opened. The rich and poor from around Daminy came to witness the grand opening of this castle. A grand feast was held in the grand ball room for the rich, and a banquet was held outside for the poor. The banquet was undercover just in case it would rain, which it did. Both sides of the financial scale praised it for its beauty and its stunning gardens. Puvilian lived on for another 28 years before his death in 1670, aged 60.

There was a period of 100 years were 2 kings reigned. However, they did no significanr things. But, they were praised for increasing trade between the West and the East. However, in 1770, a new king was appointed. Helivac Archeon was the final king of Daminy, and would be mostly known for his hatred to the growing family, the Keloviks. On the 30 August 1790, he was accused of physically harming a member of the Kelovik Family. This outraged them, and the people of the nation. This led to a civilian overthrowing. This action led Helivac Archeon to round up his most loyal troops and conducted burning the city, however Asklervac Castle wasn't burned. After the dismissal of the Monarchy in 1790, the famous Kelovik Family gained control of the nation. It marked the beginning of a new Daminy.

Kelovik Period 1790-2025

When the Kelovik's took control in 1790, they faced many problems, noting the revival of Archeon, and providing shelter for the people who suffered in the burinings. However, instead of making Arcehon the capital of Daminy, like it used to be, they desided to move the capital to new land. This land was near the central-north of Daminy, in the Yotsvalian Region. This decision came at a shock to the whole nation. It was so much as a shock, that even the Sibarian Government decided to go against this idea. However, the Keloviks were determined to build a new city. They came under media fire from across the globe, stating that "they were crazy" and "that the country will be plunged into chaos".

Construction started on the 14 September 1790. Official plans for several districts were drafted up, including the palace, were the ruler of the nation will reside. Almost every building organistation was employed to build this city. During its construction, they faced many strikes and riots, the new Damanian Republic was facing economic problems and their foreign relations were dimishing. However, in the Summer of 1798, they finnally completed the essential parts of the city for it to be livable in. By 1820, the entire planned city was established.

In the mid-1800's, economic problems began to iron out, as trade returned to the region and foreign relations were improving. They implemented a new president, Hermenz Dubrovnic. It seemed as if things were getting better. However, in the late 1800's, the economic theory of Communism began picking up in Sibaria. The Keloviks saw this as a chance to take control, formally. In 1925, Inagov Kelovik led a rebelion named The Red Rebelion, which caused Hemrenz Dubrovnic to step down as leader and for Inagov to take helm. By 1926, Daminy was a Socialist state.

The Great Wars Period

In August 1914, Daminy, following in the steps of Sibaria, declared war on Proagovania in response to it's invasion on Northern Moneylanian nations. World War I was to have a devastating impact on Daminy. When World War One started in August 1914, Daminy responded by patriotically rallying around Sibarian King Wicoslaw. Wicoslaw had a romantic vision of him leading his army into battle. Therefore, he spent much time at the Proagovanian Front. However, military disasters at Felushia and The Daniok River greatly weakened the Allied Army in the initial phases of the war. It became clear that the morale of the ordinary Damanian soldier was extremely poor and desertion became a growing problem. Food supplies were poor and erratic. As the front line got closer to the home front, it became obvious to many that both fronts were in total chaos.

By 1915, the small nation of Croestan was lost to the Proagovanians as they advanced towards the Berkrainian border. Worried for the Berkrainian people, Wicoslaw rallied a massive Allied force and proceeded to drive the Proagovanians out of Croestan. During late-1916, Wicoslaw had driven the Proagovanians out of Croestan and Grauvand and was on the verge of crossing the Proagavanian border. The Damanian troops had to withdraw from the final push into Proagovania because of a suprise attack in Yayovan. After the attack of Yayovan was finished, Daminy remained out of the war, ending the Damanian help to King Wicoslaw.

The 1920s were an age of dramatic social and political change. For the first time, more Damianians lived in cities than on farms. The nation’s total wealth more than doubled between 1920 and 1929, and this economic growth swept many Damianians into an affluent but unfamiliar “consumer society.” People from coast to coast bought the same goods and listened to more music then ever before. However, many Damanians were uncomfortable with this new, urban “mass culture”, in fact, for many people in Daminy, the 1920s brought more conflict than celebration, with the rise of Communism and the anti-Communist protesters. However, for a small handful of young people in the nation’s big cities, the 1920s were roaring.

During the 1920s, many Damanians had extra money to spend, and they spent it on consumer goods such as ready-to-wear clothes and home appliances like electric refrigerators. In particular, they bought radios. The first commercial radio station in Daminy, Youthsville Radio, hit the airwaves in 1920; three years later there were more than 500 stations in the nation. By the end of the 1920s, there were radios in more than 12 million households.

Likewise, an anti-Communist “Red Scare” in 1919 and 1920 encouraged a widespread nativist hysteria, that the population was split. Anti-Capitalist propoganda began popping up as well. The country was effectivly split in favour of Communism and Capitalism. However, the Communists had gained just enough people to overthrow the government, and thus, in 1926, Daminy became a socialist state and formed The Socialist Republic of Daminy.

In 1940, Daminy (which had signed an alliance with Sibaria, which implemented the island nation into Sibaria) declared war on Flazorus when they failed to allow Sibarian troops to be stationed at its border. By this time, the war had gone on for a year. When the Sibarian Allies entered the war, it was to change the course of World War Two in North Moneylania. In April 1942, Moneylania witnessed what was then the largest land attack in history, named "Plan X". A vast Flazorian force advanced on Sibarian cities, encircled them and proceeded to burn them. the war ended in 1945 and in 1947, Daminy had gained final independence.

The Cold War

The 1950's was a time of happiness for Damanian. Dictator Lazlo Kelovik was known to be a very benevolent dictator issuing some of the lowest taxes in Damanian history, being the Damanian leader to witness highest Damanian population growth since WWII and the only dictator to allow private business to freely operate within Daminy. The economy is booming, taxes were lowered, flight prices reduced, more public services where planned and drugs where banned, which causes a tourist boom within the 1950's. Lazio Kelovik is also known for his attempts at creating a democratic nation and free trade, whether he succeeded is up for debate. Tourists enjoy the services in Youthsville and serveral other city centers, which is known for its friendly inhabitants and happy atmosphere. Damanians were also known as well behaved tourists in this time. This lasted throughout the 50's and into the early 60's. Throught this time, Daminy had some very famous music exports such as Damian and the Rockets and Felino Torcelli. Immigrants began pouring through the country, with a large influx of Scuroians in the south and Ironians in the north.

Ironians in Trosnikovo

Lazlo Kelovik had kept Daminy out of the brewing tentions between West and East. However, this was all to change in 1981, when Dicator Viktor Saniovic got into power and formed the The Socialist Dictatorship of Daminy. Viktor had turned the country on its head, imposing strict immigration laws, raising taxes, gaining complete control of the media and effectively turning the nation into an authoritarian state. The government of Daminy during this time used capital punishment and forced labor and a series of harsh laws designed to keep the population subdued. However, Daminy also attracted immigrants because of its economic stability.

In 1983, constant terrorist attacks at airports, smuggling, human trafficking and unrest in the New Archeon district made Daminy institute stricter and stricter policies that culminated in confiscation of passports from all Damanian citizens, complete lockdown and isolation from the outside world and full information audits for all government workers. In 1984, a Platacian terrorist attack in Youthsville International caused outrage with the people of Daminy, as they called for war, however, President Dragan of Sibaria called for Damanian reasoning. Tentions were at an all time high. This made Viktor Saniovic impose strict immigration law to confiscate all Platacian passports and deport them back to Platacia. A total of 800 passports were confiscated over two years.

In 1985, Saniovic called for an invasion of the East Uzmorrial Islands in an attempt to "free oppressed Damanians". This led to international condemnation and a call to arms against Daminy, but before anything could have been done, Daminy and the East Uzmorrial Islands signed a truce in return for all Damanians in the EUI.

In 1994, Dictator Moodie Kelovik gained power in Daminy, ending the thirteen year reign of Saniovic. Despite having just been named as leader of Daminy, Kelovik was close enough to Sibarian leader Anton Mikahlovic that he was Mikhalovic's second choice to be Vice President of the Sibarian Soviet State in 1990. However, Nazarbayev turned the offer down. On 24th of April 1994, Kelovik was named the first President of Daminy by the Supreme Soviet State. He supported Sibarian President Yashim Slavic against the attempted coup in August 1995 by Soviet hardliners.

Moodie Kelovik in 1995, being swarn into presidency, aged 56

The Soviet States disintegrated following the failed coup, though Kelovik was highly concerned with maintaining the close economic ties between Daminy and Sibaria. In the country's first "election", held on 1 December, he appeared alone on the ballot and won 91.5% of the vote. On 21 December, 1998, he signed the Youthsville Pact Protocol, taking Daminy into the Youthsville Pact.

2000's

The new millinium has sparked a massive reshuffle of Damanian priorities. During this time, there was massive political restructure, a civil war and many new ideas and economical changes. Moodie Kelovik kept firm control over the nation as he decided what was best for the nation, changing laws to suit himself.

In 2004, political ideoligist and Administrator of North Daminy Grigoriy Gavrilovic proclaimed that North Daminy has succeed from Daminy, forming the Republic of North Daminy. Moodie Kelovik jumped straight onto national and international television and declared war on the new state.

Famous photograph of a man smoking in a tank during the Damanian Civil War

The Socialist State of Daminy was swiftly pushed back by the new republic. All advances stopped once the republic reached the lowest part of the Damanian Highlands, south of Sandrovka City. The state had gained enough forces to push the republic back towards the outskirts of Trosnikovo, the capital. Kelovik gave Gavrilovic one chance to back down from the fight, however, he declined, famously stating "If I give up today, I will die a Damanian. If I fall today, I die as a North Damanian!" The state pushed into the city and started a one day stand off with republic forces, however, the Northern Damanians eventually where defeated and a North Daminy ceased to exist.

During the late 00's, Daminy was exposed to it's largest tourist surge seen since the late 50's. No one knows why the nation experienced such activity.

2010's to present

The 10's was a time of stagnation. The economy over the course of the decade only grew by 5%, tourism was on the low and trade had diminished. However, during the 2020's, everything began to improve. At the start of the decade, Moodie Kelovik had stated he had decided to give up power by 2025. He began to lessen his reign over the Father Knows Best state, slowly becoming a capitalist and politically free society. The economy began to rise with he discovery of uranium in the northern forests. However, progress was halted by the beginning of The Damanian War, a small skirmish between Damanian and Bananish troops. Damanian troops had advanced as far as a few city blocks from the Bananish capital, however, once Ironcastle released the no-fly zone which had been in place since the beginning of 2025, Damanian forces began to retreat. Daminy officialy surrendered once Bananish troops had landed in plains south of Trosnikovo. After this, Moodie Kelovik was forced to plead in front of a jury of Ironians, known as Kelovik vs. the state of the Banana Federation. He was tried with the usage of chemical weapons and the storage of WMD's, however, no strong evidence was ever presented to the judge. However, the judge still ruled that Kelovik must immediately give up power or face a severe jail sentence. So the next day, Daminy went to elections, voting incredibly in favour of Joel Kelovik, a long time advocate for political freedom and Moodie Kelovik's son.

Months after the election and the deceleration of the new Republic of Daminy, tourism had gone through the roof. The economy was booming, with increased trade, culture was also rising with composers, artists and producers creating works of famous Damanian art and music. Daminy is now one of the most influential countries in the Uzmorr Sea and has one of the largest GDPs, with around 1.18 trillion.

Geography and climate

Geographically, Daminy consists of three different terrains. Mountains in the north, temperate in the center and plains down south. The climate is mostly temperate. Mount Trosnikova is the tallest mountain in Daminy at a height of 2212 metres above sea level.
