The Davis Royal Family has been in power in the Just Monocratic Commonwealth of Consigahria since its federation. Technically, they've been powerful for far longer than that. Cornelius Davis I is the man responsible for the very idea of Consigahria. According to ancient texts, it was Davis who first laid eyes on the coast of Vermillion Territory.

Sighting Land

18-year-old Cornelius Davis I and his crew of 27 men aboard his ship Partition sighted the western beaches of Consigahria's mainland on October 12th, 1780, after sailing for 15 years straight through the western Pacific Ocean. After almost a month of planning, he returned to the island on November 6th with thousands more people, intending to settle there, but was met with violent opposition. The powerful Queendom of Geneva and the Francod Republic, who both required the land for profit so as not to collapse as capitalist countries, had arrived first and were already engaged in violent, explosive maritime warfare.

Davis decided to join the fight in late October of 1780. Throughout the 7th and 8th, Davis scouted out the rival camps and brought back crucial data. He calculated: he brought 3,485 men whom he will use to fight (and 2.3 thousand more women and children who aren't allowed to fight); Geneva brought 2,400 men; and Franco brought 2,600. Easy win. Davis encouraged his men that they were outnumbered, so long as they took out one enemy at a time. Davis and 2,000 of his men charged against Geneva and slaughtered them, only losing 130 of their own men. With 1,870 remaining, he replenished his numbers to 3,355 and attacked Franco. Franco's more advanced weaponry and artillery took out hundreds of his men at a time, but luckily took a while to reload; and therefore, Davis had the advantage of moving quickly and staying out of sight, enabling him to coordinate precise attacks which finally brought the Francod Republic, which was already in the process of federalization, to its knees over the span of a year. Consigahria subsequently took over.

Federation

Following settling in Vermillion Territory in November of 1781, 19-year-old Davis I took a Francod wife, Hermione, and remained married to her faithfully for 10 years before they give birth to a beautiful baby boy (b. Dec. 27, 1791) and two baby girls (October 1792). Davis named his son after himself, Cornelius Davis II, and scheduled for the baby to be circumcised. Hermione named her daughters after her mother, Roseanne I and Roseanne II. Shortly after, he was pulled aside by his advisor, who asked if democracy should be compulsory. This was the second time this question had been posed, and the Dictator for Life was tired; he had his advisor shot and killed, then hired another one.

One June 20th, 1782, the Vermillion Treaty was ratified, and the nation was official. Davis remained married to Hermione I for another 18 years before an earthquake struck and damaged his city, killing her. Davis imposed heavy taxes to supplement and repair the damage. Young and insightful Cornelius Davis II noticed his father's hence-sharpened aggression toward his people and toward the planet, and wondered how a Jew could be like that and sleep soundly at night.

In 1808, and Davis I for the first time hit his son across the face. This is when it was decided that Davis I would die. Months passed into winter near Davis II's birthday, and the boy brooded in silence, knowing his father would forget, as he and his mother never remembered the occasion.

Assassination of the Dictator for Life

The Holy Dictatorship of Consigahria was only 16.7 years old when it saw its first assassination of a national leader. On January 12th, 1809, 17-year-old Cornelius Davis II ordered his father's personal bodyguards to kill him in his sleep, or they would die instead. Afraid, they complied, and were unprecedentedly sentenced to death for treason by Davis I's Head Minister of Defense. The horrified 17-year-old prince learned that he cannot legally be the ruler of the nation until he turns 18, and that meanwhile Bartholomew Grant Huhn, Davis I's Head Minister of Defense, would take the reins. Huhn, who was notoriously cold toward the King's children, would rule for little under a year; and while he alleviated the previously high income tax rate, he raised the property tax rate from 0.78% to 3%, enraging agriculturists and farmers alike.

Shortly after his 18th birthday on December 27th of 1809, inherently dangerous Cornelius Davis II asserted his dominance over Huhn and commanded him to step down. His Royal blood thick in his veins indeed made him, in the eyes of the nation, superior; and so Huhn backed off, afraid to lose his life. Davis II proclaimed himself, in the death and absence of his father, the First President of the official Monocratic Democracy. Meanwhile, Huhn would later comment that he was never afraid of the young price, but he feared the public.

In January, 1810, Davis II abolished property tax entirely, saving his small population of 25 million thousands of golden coins. His approval rating skyrocketed. In 1812, he established a welfare system as the government discovered deeper and deeper mines of gold, and secretly prohibited anybody from entering the sites except government workers. His approval rating further skyrocketed. In 1813, Davis II took a wife, Morgan Chauncey, who became the first First Lady. In their eleventh year of marriage, on December 27th of 1824 they gave birth to twins, a healthy baby boy and a beautiful baby girl whom they named Amelia Arsinoe. The boy quickly fell ill with an inexplicable chronic illness. Healthcare was poor at the time, and so the baby died within a month. The family had him cremated, as was their custom. A service was held for fallen Vincent Cornelius Davis III two weeks after, during which teary Davis II scattered the boy's ashes from an urn into Voya Straight. The disheartened family would fail to create legislation for quite some time, and as a result, the income tax rate began to slowly climb.

In 1855, their 42nd year of marriage, Davis II and his wife bore a beautiful, healthy baby boy, and the President named him Cornelius Keenen Samuel Davis IV after himself, "Samuel" because of its symbolic Hebrew meaning, "heard by God."

31-year-old Amelia detested her baby brother, but appeared to adore him in her parents' presence like a good princess should. She detested even being a princess, because all of her life, her parents pretty much ignored her. They threw her birthday parties and granted her everything she wanted, except attention and affection. They were way too consumed with the baby and their work. It was her parents' staff who waited on the family hand and foot whom she felt was her legitimate family. In preadolescence, she learned that the members in her parents' staff are replaceable, and she quickly grew tired of the inconsistency, so she began to hate everyone, including her parents.

When Samuel turned six, his parents began to treat him like a toddler less and less. He began to receive harsh penalties for breaking rules, including spankings and confinement to his room. The Royal Staff of Davis II would wait on him hand and foot, but were not allowed to lay their hands on him. His loyal sister, resentful of the kid as she was, would kill them if they did. But when the parents punished him, she would usually chuckle darkly in the background, feeling that he deserved it. When Samuel turned 14, his father began to pay attention to him completely, teaching him the ways of economics and running a country that balances a socialist religion. In effect, Amelia faded completely into the background, half because she wanted to. Samuel decided to attend public school despite his father's concerns. In 1872, at age 17 Samuel had already won metals for public speaking and debate and was on the honor roll in his school, as he had been all his life, but had also racked up assault charges for defending himself in school against bullies. Assault was not a serious crime back in this time, but as the charges racked up, the less likely it was for him to have a high approval rating when it came to taking the throne in less than six months.

Having learned long ago that she was not to sit in the throne, 48-year-old Amelia was apathetic to everything by now. She would, without telling anybody her plan, jump from a very tall bridge into a river, but she missed her mark and hit rocks headfirst, killing her instantly. Her autopsy revealed that she suffered from schizophrenia and severe depression. President Davis II made a national address after learning about his daughter's suicide, and urged the nation to light incense and candles for her. The President found his daughter's journals, which proclaimed her dread and solitude throughout the years, validated that her mother, his wife, had detached around Samuel's birth, and made it clear she found out about the truth behind her grandfather's death.

Three months later, Samuel would turn 18 and become eligible for Presidency; however, the law stated (and maintains) clearly that a national leader must lead the nation until he dies, becomes too ill to perform his job, or is impeached. Aware of this, aware of the ambition of his son, and aware of his sin against his own father, President Cornelius Davis II made another national address at this time and confessed to his crime of conspiracy against his own father. The nation was shocked, and some are outraged. The President revealed that he was about to commit a form of suicide, "an attempt of justice, in which [he would] intravenously accept a mixture of pentobarbital which will render him unconscious in less than 30 seconds, pancuronium bromide which will cause a complete, fast, and sustained paralysis, and potassium chloride which will cause death by cardiac arrest." That night, surrounded by his personal doctor, friends (including a rabbi), and family, without a dry eye in the house the President took a few shots of whiskey with his son, wife, and staff; had his son promise that, following his death, he would be a great leader; then accepted the lethal injection. He quickly appeared to fall asleep, but everybody knew he would never wake up again. Officially President, the deceased king's head vizier looked to him for direction. Samuel ordered for his father to be cremated, and said a prayer, before he ordered to be crowned the following morning at midday. The morning of February 12th, 12:00pm, 18-year-old Cornelius Keenen Samuel Davis IV accepted the Royal Crown and Ring from the President's Head Minister of Defense and assume his position on the throne as the first self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the nation.
