The Commonwealth of Dubford is an island nation, situated in the Indian Ocean. Its capital, Rossdale, is situated to the west of the island. The mainland is surrounded by four smaller islands- Alberta Island, Long Island, McDonald Island and South Island, three of which are uninhabited. McDonald Island is inhabited, and is connected to the mainland to a bridge, thanks to its close proximity to the mainland.

Established as a colony of the British Empire in 1768, Dubford was set up as an exclusively Scottish colony, being settled by predominantly Scottish families. Over time, other nationalities came to the island, but Dubford nevertheless remains largely populated by those of Scottish heritage. The island gained independence from Britain in 1946, having been largely self-sufficient anyway, due to their distance from Britain.
