Emma Calloway-Smith, Marchioness of Balbriggan

Emma Calloway-Smith, Marchioness of Balbriggan (Emma Alice Mary; born 4 August 1946) is an Anglo-Irish peer. Born to an English father and Dutch-American mother, she married into the Calloway-Smith family and became Marchioness of Balbriggan in 1984.

Early life

Lady Emma Alice Mary Lasseter was born in the London Welbeck Hospital in London on 4 August 1946 to Andrew Lasseter and his American-born wife Mary Elizabeth (née Colgan), the Earl and Countess of Honeybourne. Calloway-Smith's paternal grandparents were Alexander Lasseter, 15th Earl of Honeybourne and his wife Lady Victoria Hamilton. Her maternal grandparents were John Washington Colgan and his wife, Wilhelmina Emma van den Berg.

Calloway-Smith was raised in London and New York with her five sisters and two brothers; Elvira, Alexander, Christina, Sophia, Michael, Irene and Louise.

Marriage and children

On 13 September 1968, Emma married George Calloway-Smith, then Earl of Sailford, in London. They have four children:
