Erich von Schmidt III (born 1976) is a Braslander artist. He is the son of Erich von Schmidt and his third wife, Madeleine von Ledoux.

He was born in Geneva as a posthumous child, as his father died few months before his birth. His mother, a painter, decided to stay in Switzerland and raise her son there. Dag von Schmidt, Erich's grandfather, granted her and her grandson a large allowance that allowed them to live comfortably. Erich attended a private school and spent the summers in Brasland with his grandparents. However, he rarely saw his older half-brother, also named Dag.

Erich studied Art in London and lived in several cities (London, Paris and New York). He works as a painter and has shown his work on several exhibitions in Europe and the USA.

In 2010 he and his mother returned to live in Brasland. They settled in Halvan, where Erich has opened his own art gallery, Schmidt Galerie. He and his brother Dag have become close.

He had a daughter, Maya, born in 2011 from his relationship to sculptress Léa Bosset. They married in 2012 and had a son, Leo, born in 2013.
