The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union responsible for implementing decisions and day-to-day running of the EU. It was established in 2006 by the Constitution of the European Union and was first led by James Howard Stanton.

The Commission operates as a cabinet government, with five members elected for a four-month term. The most voted member automatically becomes the Premier Commissioner, tasked with leading the commission.
