The Battle of Jylhaven was a major battle during the latter half of the Werman Civil War, fought in and around Jylhaven from December 11 to December 17, 2004. It was fought between the Heimarn Coalition, the Hawkwickan Nationalist Authority, and the Hawkwickan Armed Forces. The engagement marked the end of the HNA, and the first time HARM forces openly engaged forces of the Heimarn Coalition. The battle coincided with Operation Voklov, a major offensive in the south by former HARM general Janus Wulfar.

Background

In the days prior to the battle, the Heimarn coalition made a rapid advance from the south after an initial invasion through the Sumpfland Valley. Heimar made a continuous advance against the HNA forces, pushing them further north, and drastically draining the HNA's resources and manpower. Within only a week, Heimar pushed the HNA all the way to New Altberg. Simultaneously, HARM moved masses of troops just outside the Northeast of the city, in preparation for an attempt to retake it. Throughout the day leading up to the attack, Heimarn KSK forces coordinated and marked targets for the air force, and were able to destroy most of the remaining HNA armor and heavy fortifications. The following morning, forces began moving into the city.

The Battle

Within the first few hours of the battle, the HNA was effectively destroyed, as they were pinned in between Heimarn and HARM forces. By noon, Heimarn and HARM forces met and began fighting each other for control of the city. After hours of grueling urban combat, the HARM forces in the city withdrew, leaving tons of mines and boobytraps in the city. The next morning Heimarn troops began securing the rest of the city, but were slowed substantially as they tried to clear the IEDs and [] bombs. After several long hours, the Heimarn withdrew to the southern portion of the city as massive firestorms began engulfing the northeastern areas.

Aftermath

The Battle of New Altberg was one of the costliest battles of the war for Heimar, losing more troops in New Altberg than in all other engagements combined. Despite inflicting more casualties, HARM was outnumbered, and retreated south to push Blackwatch out of Hawkwick. During the opening stages, current King of Heimar and the Altic Union, Markus Albrecht, was captured in New Altberg. Damge in and around the city was substantial, with fires almost completely destroying the northeast area of the city. Heimar continued the occupation of New Altberg until the Treaty of Altberg was signed, and HARM was integrated with Heimar into the RAAF. Jorik Narheim, current Marshal of the RAAF, played an important role in the battle, and it is widely believed that the battle was the turning point for Narheim, where he began planning to overthrow General Matterhorn.
