Friedrich von Fürstenstein-Reichenhall

Prince Friedrich von Fürstenstein-Reichenhall (1792-1870) was the son of Prince Karl von Fürstenstein.

A second son, nevertheless he inherited part of the Reichenhall fortune, while his older brother inherited the bulk of the Fürstenstein and Reichenhall legacies. With this wealth, inherited was able to led a comfortable, luxurious life.

He married Princess Caroline von Lorensberg, and they had several children, among them Karl (b. 1814) and Sophie (b. 1834).

Friedrich built a palace in Markund, called the Caroline Palace after his wife. The family spent also time in Schloss Reissenburg, their country home. His wife was considered wild for the conservative society of Markund. She had several affaires, while Friedrich had his own. Despite this, their relationship was good, and when she died in 1832 (after giving birth to their youngest child), he genuinely mourned her.

He died in 1870, thirty eight years after Caroline.
