Princess Gabriella of Brasland (1872-1933) was the daughter of King Frederick IV and his first wife, Duchess Amelia von Kerlich.

Her mother died after giving her birth, a fact that always weighed in Gabriella's character. She was a melancholic woman, and although not unattractive, she was not considered beautiful.

Still unmarried by the age of twenty seven, her father thought she would be a spinster. However, in 1899 she fell in love with Prince Engelbert IV von Altenhaus, the head of a distinguished family. The King gave his consent to the match and they married in 1900. They had three children: Friedrich von Altenhaus (born 1901), Albert (born and died 1903) and Amelia (born 1907).

The family divided their time between a palace in Ormarstadt and Engelbert's ancestral family seat. Gabriella had a fragile health and did not like to travel to Markund very frequently. She died in Ormarstadt in 1933.
