The United Kingdoms of Heimar, commonly called Heimar, is the leading state of the Altic Union, with the Kaiser, Markus I Albrecht, ruling over the AU. It has maritime and land borders with Artstotszka to the north and west, with Sad-States to the south, and Hawkwick to the east. Heimar covers an area of 9,807,300km2 and has an estimated population of 156 million.

Prior to colonization by the Altberg Empire, Heimar was inhabited only by small nomadic tribes on the northeastern coasts. When Altbergian colonists expanded past the Korpergrosse mountains around 900CE, they quickly mingled and integrated the tribes into the Altic culture, and expanded further south into the densely forested areas of central and southern Heimar. Due to relatively isolated geography, the colonists were able to remain semi-autonomous, as the Altbergians found it difficult to administer the area. The Altic colonists retained the native tribalistic system, with several groups sharing power over the land. Due to the dissolution of the Altberg Empire, the area fell under a feudalistic period, with the major tribes forming small Kingdoms, often warring with each other over land and resources. Heimar was unified in the late 14th century, when the largest of the feudalistic Kingdoms gained control of the other Kingdoms through diplomatic and military means, forming the United Kingdoms of Heimar, as it is known today.

Over the next three centuries Heimar gained in economic and military power, and expanded west, setlling the area now known as Solaria, becoming a threat to neighboring Hawkwick. In the mid 18th century, Hawkwick invaded in an attempt to conquer and unify the nations, beginning the War of the Blackbirds. However, they were defeated after suffering a string of defeats from the Heimarn navy, unable to gain a foothold. In the ensuing peace treaty, Hawkwick gave up possession of the colonies on Stinpor to Heimar. Those colonies, however, had experienced almost complete autonomy under Hawkwickan rule, and instead wanted to become independent. In response Heimar sent a large fleet and army to maintain order and control, starting the Wahlsh War of Independence. The war ended in a Heimarn defeat, as they were unable to effectively administer the army from such a long distance. Not long after suffering a loss in the Wahlsh war, Artstotszka invaded Solaria, quickly overwhelming Heimar through superior technology. The war ended in a peace treaty, and Solaria was ceded to Artstotszka, with Heimar gaining control of Zwitelgeist, a predominantly Artsotszkan trade and port city.

Heimar's terrain is largely varied. In the east, there are the Korpergrosse mountains, one of the largest mountain ranges on the western continent. In western Heimar is the Black Forest, a hilly, thickly wooded area that continues into Solaria. In the south the climate becomes much more Mediterranean, with several large lakes, grasslands, and wetlands.
