He studied at Rottendorf College, served a year in the Armed Forces and later studied Business in the University of Markund. He manages a successful hedge-fund.
In 1990 he married Baroness Julia von Wittenberg, who is a lady-in-waiting to Princess Maria Amelia. They had seven children: Gabriel (born 1992), August (born 1994), Stephanie (born 1997), Sophie (born 1999), Barbara (born 2004), Victoria (born 2006) and Philipp (born 2010).
