The Impeachment of Sir Avery Addams began on 24 September 2005 when the National Intelligence Agency, directed by Nicholas Stevens, was asked by the House Intelligence Committee to investigate electoral fraud. Immediate investigation results suggested widespread fraud against the electoral practice at the hands of Avery Addams' Presidential Campaign in 2001. On 24 September 2005 a resolution was passed by the Senate which condemned Addams and created the Senate Committee on Special Affairs, chaired by Senator Henry Deruthesdan. On 25 September 2005, the Senate Committee began its own independent investigation and utilized subpoenas to acquire all its information.

On 3 October 2005, the President was alleged to have personal knowledge of the 2001 electoral malpractice which led to the vote on the House of Commons floor on 9 October 2005 which voted 405/630 to impeach. Failing to reach the 421 threshold required, the House continued its investigation regardless. On 29 November 2005, leaked recordings of President Addams in 2001 with his staff at the Mariott Hotel in Sydney were used by the House of Commons to find fallacies in the testimonies of most of the Presidential staff. The former Director of the NIA admitted to releasing the tapes in 2016 and stated that it was a part of her duty to the Saren people. President Addams resigned on 1 December 2005 at 10.30AM, just after signing a pardon to his Vice President, Corey Niziam but thirty minutes before the House of Commons would vote to impeach. It disrupted the session as the Speaker was interrupted by the Gatekeeper of the Chambers of the Parliament of Sarenium to provide him with the written resignation of the 67th President of the United Republic of Sarenium.

By resigning early, historians have often stated that Addams recognized he was unable to acquire the votes needed to survive the House and Senate. This early resignation came with a pardon from President Corey Niziam on the same day. The pardons of each other prevented either of them from facing any indictments for their crimes but Corey Niziam lost his attempt at winning the Presidency for a full term in 2006 to Alain Bronson.

The pardon of Sir Corey Niziam led to fury over the way in which both 'cheated justice'. President Addams awarded Niziam a Commandership of the Order of Sarenium, an award he accepted from Niziam three months after his resignation. Attempts to rescind both of their awards have been made and unsuccessful given the requirements for rescinding any Order of Sarenium award are difficult to fulfill. Neither of the men were convicted of any crimes following the attempted impeachment of Sir Avery Addams.
