The group surrendered after the capture and execution of their leader Julien Vezquez in Operation Majestic Dawn , and relative peace returned. In October 2014 a narsoran aircraft was hijacked and it's passengers taken hostage, and was freed by a special forces raid. This set off a new conflict known as Operation Lightning Bolt this led a to the deaths of 275 people. The insurgency offically ended on October 16th, 2014, after the surrender of the FALN militant group, and it's leaders.
