Johannes IV, Prince von Fürstenstein (born 1940) is the head of the Princely House of Fürstenstein, one of Brasland's great families. He is the son of Prince Albrecht von Fürstenstein.

He is married to Ghislaine Luppin, daughter of Philibert Luppin, an industrialist who amassed one of Brasland's largest fortunes. They have seven children: Johanna (born 1968), Karl (born 1969), Anne (born 1971), Josef (born 1972), Odette (born 1977), Florentine (born 1979) and Eléonore (*1984).

He had a tense relationship with his very traditional parents, with whom he shared very little. He was artistically inclined and enjoyed all types of creative pursuits, which they disapproved. They were also initially against his choice of bride, as Ghislaine was a commoner, albeit a very rich one. His younger brother Friedrich was his father's ideal son: military inclined, married a noblewoman, and enjoyed the same activities (politics, shooting, etc). Johannes felt that Friedrich used this to his advantage, gaining their father's trust to obtain financial benefits for himself and his family. Because of this, he and his brother have never gotten along.

Prince Johannes has divided his time between the reorganisation of the Fürstenstein estates, in order to turn them into sustainable businesses, and increasing the family's art collection. He is one of the country's best connoisseurs in modern art, and a promoter of artists and cultural institutions, sitting on the boards of several of them.
