Karl II, Prince von Fürstenstein (1840-1921) was the son of Prince Friedrich von Fürstenstein.

He married Princess Monika von Hohenburg, and they had ten children: Elistansa (b. 1869), Crescentia (b. 1870), Franziska (b. and d. 1872), Johannes (b. 1873), Christoph (b. and d. 1874), Rudolf (1875-1876), Wilhelmine (b. 1877), Alexandra (b. 1879), Sophie (b. 1881, spinster) and Friedrich (b. 1884).

He served in Parliament as a conservative. A staunch monarchist, he supported Frederick IV's coup d'etat, and was appointed as ambassador on two occasions. Later, he also served at court. His wife was a prominent hostess and very active politically, but behind the scenes.

He died in 1921, and was succeeded by his grandson Johannes, as his son (also named Johannes) had predeceased him.
