Biography
First years
Leopold was born in Ludovicia on 13 october 1968 by Alexius II von Altbishofen, count of Altbishofen, and his wife, the noble woman Patrice de Vuitton. He was baptized in the chapel of the Palace Von Altbishofen by his paternal uncle, msgr. Jakob von Altbishofen, bishop of La Rochelle, with as godfather his paternal grandfather Hermann, and as godmother his maternal grandmother Josephine von Kripp. One of his father's ancestors was Ludwig von Altbishofen, the first prime minister of the Kingdom of Ludovicia.
Since his young age he was entrusted for his education to a private teacher in the figure of Jean Baptiste De Huguemont, a noble descendant of a family originally from the Ardennes, in France, who will be also tutor of the future king Louis VIII. De Huguemont bringed him to military career and predisposed him to studies of different languages including, in addition to native French and German, as English, Italian and Latin. He learned playing piano and organ attending the Ludovicia Musical Institute. He attended the "Louis Amédée Moreau de Maupertuis" Institute of Ludovicia where he was fellow student of the young hereditary prince and then passed to the Royal University of Ludovicia since 1986 where he studied history. In 1988, with the hereditary prince, he visited Paris where they stayed three months and visited Britain three times between 1988 and 1990.
Political commitment
At the age of twenty, in 1988, Leopold applied to the Ludovicia municipal council and was elected as a councilor in the ranks of conservatives of the Ludovician Monarchist Union, party with which he continued to military even in the following year, when he first became councilor for culture and then deputy mayor of the city. He gave the city a significant boost from a cultural point of view: he specifically committed himself to recovering the history of the city and the kingdom, achieving considerable merit also in the academic field for the foundation of the first university chair of "Ludovician history" at the Royal University of Ludovicia.
For these merits he was awarded by the crown prince first with the medal of the Order of Cultural Merit and later, from 1993, with the appointment as prime minister when Louis VIII became sovereign in that same year.
Prime minister
Leopold von Altbishofen was chosen as prime minister a few days after the rise to power of Louis VIII of Ludovicia since his predecessor, Karl Kirchbach, resigned with the rise of the new monarch in open controversy with the political direction shown by the sovereign already when he was crown prince.
