The Levkados Group, (also known as the Levkados Group of Companies or simply the Levkados Companies) is a group of multinational companies in Diadochia, covering a wide range of businesses which share the Levkados brand, trademark, and legacy. The descendants of the original founder Konstantine Levkados, the present Levkados family headed by Spiros Levkados hold a majority stake in the conglomerate.


History

The Levkados Group started life as a shipping business under Nikos Levakados in 1829, the father of Konstantine Levkados. After his father's death in 1846, Levakados Shipping begin suffering greatly and lost alot of money being forced to declare bankruptcy. Konstantine Levkados managed to salvage some of the company and turned it into a conglomerate with over twenty companies. In honour of the resurrection of his father's business he choose a phoenix as the company's logo, a logo that is known throughout the world and carrys much weight in Diadochia and in the world as a whole.

In 1865, Konstantine Levkados established his business with funds salvaged from his father's former shipping business, just like his father he made shipping his core business and later branched of to various sectors. From 1870 to 1889 Levkados Group deversified into shipbuilding, banking, insurance, warehousing, and trade.

The company also acquired coal-mines, shipyards, iron mills, marine insurance businesses and other related businesses all to cater for its core shipping business. Later Levkados group into the trading business and so forth

Later diversification from 1890s onward led the company into the sectors of paper, steel, glass, electrical equipment, oil, and real estate. From its founding in 1865 to the present day Levkados group has played a mjor role in the industrialization and modernization of Diadochia
