Maeri Empire

Map of the Maeri Empire

The Maeri Empire was an empire in Lindenholt which controlled most of modern Lindenholt and some extra colonies. It was comparable to the Roman Empire. It spanned from Cubealot to colonies in Arvas. It had, compared to other peoples in Sunalaya, superior and advanced technologies. Such as Iron weapons, cavalry, trebuchets and stone walls. Not only military technology was superior: heating systems, mapping and shipbuilding were also technological advances the Meari had. The Maeri also knew about the fact that the Earth turned around the Sun and knew the earth was round.

Middle Ages

Lindenholt entered the middle ages when the Maeri Empire collapsed for unknown reasons. The many cities the Maeri made became city states. Some of these city states grew larger and became whole kingdoms. Others remained small. During the Middle Wars in Lindenholt the kingdom of Keralamentos fought against the City Alliance. The city alliance was an alliance with only city states. The City Alliance declared war on Keralamentos because they attacked one of the city states. The war began in 1025 and ended 1497. With City Alliance victory.

Colonial Period

In 1624 the first Dutch colony was made in Lindenholt. It was called Terra Tilia (Latin: Linden Land) because of the Linden trees on the island. The colonists were sailors from Holland. In 1630 the British came and made their colony. The Lindian natives didn't mind, and they lived in peace. In 1648 the Turks arrived. They needed a colony to stop and resupply before going to the Indies. By the year 1700 several nations colonized the Lindian Isles: the Dutch Republic, France, Great Britain, Denmark, Prussia and the Ottoman Empire. In 1743 the first signs of resistance appeared. A city state declared war on all the foreign invaders and called all other native Lindian nations to unite. They did and the war of independence started. Prussia, France and Denmark were kicked out. The British and Dutch later bought all the land from the Ottomans and the whole island group was now either British or Dutch. In 1784 the second war started. The Lindians were rebelling because of the too high tax rate, and were inspired by the French revolution. After 9 years of war the Lindians made peace with the Dutch and British and the Kingdom of Lindenholt was born. It's capital was Liberty City, a newly formed city. Lindenholt was the first country that banned child labor and gave everyone the right to vote.

Industrial Period

After the Napoleonic wars Lindenholt had the idea it should, just like other great powers, industrialize. Lindenholt's vast deposits of coal, gold and iron made it quick for the nation to become one of Sunalaya's superpowers. But Lindenholt needed more recourses, oil and gas were scares so Lindenholt went to the north where these could be found. Lindenholt colonized Arvas. As Lindenholt became richer and richer and the average Lindian also become richer they started to get new needs such as tobacco, exotic foods and other good that were not available in Lindenholt. Lindenholt started to go south to what would today be Cubealot to make cacao, cotton and tobacco farms. As people became richer and richer tea coffee and snarsberries were also goods that were needed. Lindenholt colonized several other Sunalayan islands and nations to supply it's need for goods. This was the dawn of the Lindian Empire

The Lindian Empire

More information about this topic cane be found Lindian Empire Much of the Lindian Empire was located at the north eastern continent. Because of the welfare of people in the industrial age the people started to demand more and more expensive things that were not available. So the Lindian Empire conquered more and more Sunalayan Islands. Including modern day Philomachus. The economy of Lindenholt became even stronger and stronger.
