The President of Abakamoso is the head of state of Abakamoso, elected by popular majority vote. The office of President was held by Negasi Mekdem Belayneh from the country's independence in 1962 until 1990, then Abdi Leul Berehanu until 2001, and by Dagmawi Lemuel Melaku since.
