The Logistic Command (LOGCOM) is one of six Strategic Commands. The mission of LOGCOM is to conduct activities and to develop an harmonious management of command, coordination and control over all formations of the logistics. In particular, the Command provides the logistical support of the Units and Formations at home and abroad, being responsible for the care of personnel and logistics for materials and equipment in use and use of financial resources allocated to logistics sector. Commander Logistics is the adviser to the Chief of Staff for everything related to logistical support. He is also responsible for managing the maintenance of vehicles and equipment and organisational support to operational departments. To carry out the task, organise, direct and supervise the activities of the Imperial Service logistics through its command structure. Commander Logistics also oversees, in consultation with the Commander of Land Forces, when ready for administrative and logistical support activities relating to operations / exercises both nationally and internationally. The command is placed under the command of a General, from which depends directly on the Military Geographical Institute, and is divided into:

  • Staff;
  • Department of Combat Materials;
  • Department of Administration and Commissariat;
  • Technical Department;
  • Health Department;
  • Department of Veterinary.

Logistics Staff

The Logistics Staff includes five offices: Personnel, Logistics Operations, Movements and Transport, Army Information Systems, Financial Planning. The Logistics Staff provides organisational support to the functional departments of the Command for the coordination work.

Department of Combat Materials

the Head of Department and Deputy Commander Logistics provides advice to the Commander Logistics on the management of resources and equipment in service. There are 4 maintenance poles: two for heavy equipment, one for the light equipment, one for TLC. Also a Armoured and Tracked vehicles Land Fleet and 3 equipment depots (Motorisation and Engineers, Artillery and Telecommunications) depend on the Department.

Department of Administration and Commissariat

The Department of Administration and Commissariat is a body of the Logistic Command with military logistic functions, and is mainly composed of officers who form the managerial cadres, while the Sergeants perform the function of accounting.
The Department's functions are expressed in the logistic-administrative support aimed at ensuring the best quality conditions of the soldier's life. In particular, the logistics of materials is carried out through study, research and technical development activities in the sectors of provisioning, clothing-equipment and materials of change, as well as in the field mobile vehicles, barracking and general services.
Furthermore, the staff of the Department ensures the administrative functioning of the units and formations, ensuring the discipline of the economic treatment and the number of personnel as well as performing legal advice (such as Legal Adviser) and legal-administrative functions.
The Head of Department and Deputy Commander Logistics provides advice to the Commander Logistic on problems of legal, financial, legal - administrative, administrative-financial and technical support. On the Department depends the Imperial Service Administrative Centre.

Technical Department

The Technical Department includes the Tech-Recruitment and Tech-Training Office, the Office of Accident-Occupational Health-Environmental Protection-Infrastructures and the Centre for Testing and Technical Centre for Defence Command NBC. Provides advice to the Commander Logistic about the work of testing and evaluation technique for use of all means, materials, weapons systems, components and equipment of interest of the Service.

Health Department

The Health Department has under its authority the Imperial Military Hospital and the Research Centre of Health of the Imperial Service. The Department Commander provides advice to the Commander of Logistics on issues on health and also updates the state of equipment in service.
The Health Department organises and operates both Medical Officers and combat medics.

Combat Medic

A Combat Medic is a medic of the Imperial Service who has received additional training in order to render medical first aid to wounded soldiers in combat. Ordinarily, military medics aim to promote the long-term recovery of their patients, but for a Combat Medic the proper time and equipment for such operations are frequently unavailable. In particular, the Combat Medic expertise lies in keeping soldiers standing during a given battle so that the entire squad can survive. Although they do intervene to save the lives of their comrades, Combat Medics also perform their operations with the goal of keeping soldiers in the fight. This focus on rapid rehabilitation, rather than on long-term recovery, sometimes means that soldiers fight on with gruesome injuries rather than resting and improving their chances of survival. This is a deliberate choice in order to allow the unit to fight; this choice is discarded when rapid and safe medical evacuation or reinforcements are available.
While concerned with the treatment of allies and saving squad mates, the Combat Medic is particularly adept at returning a wounded soldier to the field immediately to fight on, differently from military medics who are stationed in the rear. Combat Medics frequently do not have the luxury or benefit of support facilities and extra orderlies, and thus rely less upon such things for their treatment methods. Combat Medics are virtually indistinguishable from regular combat troops, except for the extra medical equipment they carry: they carry at least one primary weapon and, if possible, a secondary weapon, and could engage in actual combat.

Department of Veterinary

The Department of Veterinary has at its dependencies the Military Veterinary Centre and the Military Veterinary Hospital. The Head of the Department provides advice to the Commander Logistics Logistic problems of veterinary and also updates the state of equipment in service.

Military Geographical Institute

The Military Geographical Institute is the Logistic Command branch (at the Department level, E6) which is responsible for providing cartographic support to Army units and commands. The Institute also acts as the Cartographic Institute of the Barrayaran State. The Military Geographical Institute operates:

  • Administration and General Services Division (C601);
  • Ground Cartographic Directorate (D62);
  • Imperial Astrographic Directorate (D63);
  • Gravity Research Directorate (D64).

Imperial Astrographic Directorate

The Imperial Astrographic Directorate (D63) is the Division of the Military Geographical Institute responsible for producing astrographic resourcing and creating and maintaining maps and star charts for all components of the Imperial Service in cooperation with the Explorations Command. The ultimate aim is to enable battle space use across the continuum of campaigning and at all levels of war. The Directorate is led by a second-level general/admiral officer (traditionally a Rear Admiral) and includes five Divisions and five operational offices:

  • Navigation Astrographic Division (C631);
    • Fleet Survey Office (B6311);
    • Jump-points Survey Office (B6312);
  • Fleet Numerical Astrography Division (C632);
  • Space Observatory Division (C633);
  • Space Astrography Operations Division (C634);
    • Space Astrography Cloaking Warfare Office (B6341);
    • Space Astrography Mine Warfare Office (B6342);
    • Space Astrography Special Warfare Office (B6343);
  • Space Astrography Professional Development Division (C635).

Imperial Service Corps of Engineers

The Imperial Service Corps of Engineers (ISCE) is an important subdivision of the Logistic Command of the Imperial Service tasked with solving specialized engineering problems. The Imperial Service Corps of Engineers is one of the oldest, with its origins dating back to the ragtag engineers recruited and militarily organized during the First Cetagandan War. The Imperial Service Corps of Engineers has a solid reputation as experts of technological adaptation and modification.
The corps' mission is to deliver public and military engineering services. Their most visible missions include planning, designing, building, and operating civil engineering projects, flood protection systems and, overall, provide design and construction management of military facilities.
The Imperial Service Corps of Engineers Commander (a Lieutenant General) is the Imperial Service officer in charge of the Imperial Service Corps of Engineers; the Commander coordinates ISCE activity with Imperial Service requirements, issues mission assignments to the ISCE detachments, and ensured those teams get adequate personnel and logistical support.
The Imperial Service Corps of Engineers is subdivided into:

  • Imperial Service Corps of Engineers Commander;
  • Central Command: includes all bodies assigned to Commands without a specific geographic subordination, i.e. the General Staff, central bodies of the Imperial Service at large, of the Logistic Command and of the Transportation Command. It also oversees Imperial Service Corps of Engineers' own central bodies and includes all general management organizations, the Engineers' Staff and the Commander's Office.
    • Ground Engineers Directorate: it oversees all field units assigned to ground-based and landing formations (for ground vehicles);
    • Space Engineers Directorate: it oversees all field units assigned to space-borne and landing formations (for space vehicles);
  • Imperial Service Corps of Engineers - Barrayar: oversees, under the responsibility of BARCOM Commander, the territorial military activity on Barrayar;
  • Imperial Service Corps of Engineers - Komarr: oversees, under the responsibility of BARCOM Commander, the territorial military activity on Komarr;
  • Imperial Service Corps of Engineers - Sergyar: oversees, under the responsibility of BARCOM Commander, the territorial military activity on Sergyar.

Field Engineers Organization

Engineer units assigned to field units fall under the Field Engineers Organization (FEO), which includes both combat engineers and support engineers more focused on construction and sustainment: The vast majority of military personnel in the Imperial Service Corps of Engineers serve in this Field Engineers Organization.

Engineer School

The Engineer School (ISCE-CC1-ES) is tasked to generate the military engineer capabilities, train and certify individual soldiers, organize and train units and establish a doctrinal framework for employing capabilities. It is also subordinated to the Training Command.

Other ISCE organizations

There are several other organizations within the Corps of Engineers:

  • Engineer Research and Development Office (ISCE-CC2-ERDO);
  • Engineering and Support Centre (ISCE-CC3-EASC): provides program and project management, construction management;
  • ISCE Logistics Support Office (ISCE-CC4-LSO): provides logistics support to the Corps of Engineers (within the Logistic Command), transportation accomodation (within the Transportation Command) and strategic planning.
  • Tactical Operations System Office (ISCE-CC5-TOSO) — provides mobile command and control platforms in support of the quick ramp-up of initial response missions.

Line Combat Engineer

The Line Combat Engineers provide technical assistance to the ground-operating frontline units of the Imperial Service. They have all passed through the ground troops, receiving combat training as well as preparation as infantry sappers. The central body of their training is composed of instruction in military engineering and electronics, with specialisation in repair and maintenance of armour plating and servo-powered systems. The Line Combat Engineers function is to look after the machines, armour, arms and high-tech equipment which is in daily use by the Imperial service. They carry a specific optical visor, capable to connect with instruments and tools and with weapons.

Other units

The following units and departments depend on the Logistic Command:

  • 10 Heavy Maintenance Centres
  • 10 Fleet Orbital Depots included (operationally managed by the relevant Space Command)
  • 10 Small Arms Maintenance Clusters
  • 3 Maintenance of electronic telecommunications Centres
  • 1 Multi-purpose Centre of Experimental Studies
  • Health and Veterinary Research Centre
  • Military Veterinary Centre
  • Fleet Orbital Depots Group
  • Transportation Security Troops: The Transportation Security Troops are a subdivision within the Logistic Command. They are designed to perform the tasks of rail services (preparation, construction and reconstruction of the objects of mono-railways).

Fleet Orbital Depots Group

The Fleet Orbital Depots Group depends on Logistic Command and operates the Fleet Orbital Depots assigned to the Numbered Fleets of the Space Forces Command. Each Depot is a combination of supply and storage facilities for fuel, arms, ammunition, and other supplies.
The hearth of each Depot is the Depot Orbiting Fuel Supertanker, a type of orbital facility serving as refuelling stations and depots. The depots are equipped with Class IX propellers, enabling it to be landed on a planet. Security is usually extremely tight with the highest enforcement in clearance.
