Mánzulo is the 2nd largest city Narsora and the largest city of the Cacaña province. It was founded in 1962, being renamed from San Miguel as founded by the Spanish in 1809.
History
The city was founded in 1809 as San Miguel by the Spanish as trading port city. Beginning in the early 1980's a large number of immigrants from neighboring and far off countries began arriving in the city. Most settled in the northern areas of the city and most became permanent residents. In the early 2010's tensions between the immigrant and ethnic narsoran populations which had been simmering for several years boiled over with the 2014 Manzulo, which left 12 dead and destroyed a significant area of the Ārzemnieks neighborhood. Another riot erupted in July 2015 which left 9 dead and raised concerns over safety and racial tensions in the city.
Demographics
The racial makeup of the city in 2015 was: 65% White Latino, 25% Foreign Persons & 10% Indigenous Peoples
Crime
A topic of serious concern in the city is the high levels of crime that have erupted within the last seven years. In 2015, of the 300 murders that took place nationwide 60% or 180 took place in Manzulo, a 50% increase.
