Narsoran N-10A1

The GHI N-10 is a Narsoran main battle tank developed by Galindo Heavy Industries developed from 2006-2009 to replace the aging Leopard 2 . It has been in service with the Narsoran National Military since 2010.

History

The Leopard 2 tank had been in use since 1983 as the narsoran military's main battle tank, in 2005 the Ministry of Defense began seeking a replacement to better stand up to the high advanced tanks of the 21st Century. In 2006 a contract worth $957.3 Million NRD was awarded to defense company GHI (Galindo Heavy Industries) to develop and produce a batch of 150 vehicles for the army. Development lasted three years and the tank was officially adopted into service in 2010.

Design

The tank was designed with angled armor to aid protection against HEAT explosives (ie.RPG-7), Anti-tank rockets and IED's, it was also designed with rapid repair, survivability and reliability. It was designed to be modular to allow quick repairs and swapping of damaged parts.

Protection

The tank is outfitted with a composite armor made by IAIC, used in conjunction with ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor). In 2014, during Operation Rayo a column of the tanks were equipped with Trophy Active Protection Systems to field test them for the narsoran army. As a result none of the five tanks were lost during combat.

Armament

The N-10 is armed with a Rheinmetall L/55 120mm smoothbore gun, a MG3 GPMG as a secondary and a coaxial M2 Browning .
