Nation/Gryphonian Alliance
History/Overview
Once, where the Gryphonian Alliance is now, was simply a stretch of rain forest created by climate-seeding machines commissioned by the United States gov in the 2010s. Due to the fierce fighting in World War Three, settlers slowly trickled in as part of the Gryphonian Secession mass-migration, and eventually it was decided to make it into a country several months after the end of WW3. However, there was no police force to prevent crimes and rules varied from settler town to settler town during the last days of WW3. There was general chaos. Within months a central government was thankfully born, and as the new citizens still remembered the lawless days, a large police force and extensive education were created to ensure such criminals could never again mar society. The GA formally seceded from Canada and the fracturing United States on March 2, 2020, soon after the end of World War 3. Its name came from the Gryphonian Secession, which had constituted most of the setters to the rainforest and plains of the Midwest. Soon after its founding, a responsible representative democracy was set up. It has held the nation through a century of stability. Soon, it also joined the West Pacific. In 2050, UltraPraetor Grylon Kane called for a space program to take humanity into the rest of the solar system once more. Soon, the GAAMI, an orbital weapons platform, was built to protect the nation from killer asteroids, and in the 2060s, the Hestia space program began. It was quite successful, taking astronauts safely into space and even to the moon, where several settlements have been constructed. In the late 2080s, the Ares-Artemis program began, to continue the work of Hestia while expanding horizons to Mars. Both project arcs have been successfully completed, but work on expansion craft designed to survive Venusian conditions are under design, along with potential plans to expand beyond the solar system. The development of more powerful AI has created new job openings in the manufacturing and programming industries while allowing robots to take over tasks that require minimal difficulty and are unsanitary for human workers to execute. A powerful military has also been created. The Gryphonian Alliance rarely partakes in wars; a notable example of long-term warfare involving the GA is the Earthspawn War. The high-tech military includes exoskeleton-suited soldiers, durable and oftentimes semisapient robots, and weapons of great power, such as the aurentum bombs, the most potent of which can cause devastation on the subcontinental scale. The military lacks a large navy, but the Gryphonian Alliance does have several Chrome battleships left over from the Intervention Act of 2062 (many of which were destroyed during the Earthspawn War) along with a Super-Dreadnought bought from Allanea, named the Gladiator. The Gryphonian Alliance also recently established contact with an alien species (which appears to consist of four-eyed humanoids with facial tentacles and a hard outer carapace) in interstellar space and has managed to procure five faster-than-lightspeed spacecraft from them. Research on the nature of these FTL drives is ongoing, along with the physiology of the species and their complex language. In response to these encounters, the Gryphonian Alliance Department of Interstellar Trade was founded.
People
Most people in the GA possess pale to caramel skin tone, dark brown to black hair, and dark (most commonly brown or maroon) irises. The population is very healthy, with 64% of citizen deaths being caused by old age, and an average lifespan of 92 years. The GA is among the top 2% of the world's healthiest nations (60th place in our region), and the top 2% of the world's nations in terms of lifespan. According to world censuses, Griffins are among the most compassionate, inclusive and "nice" people in the world. Griffins have an average Intelligence Level of 113.
Geography
The GA stretches across what was once the mid northern United States and a small amount of southern Canada. It is what was once north-western Montana to northern Illinois (west to east); from southern Manitoba to northern Iowa (north to south.) Plasmadius Prime, the capital, resides where Madison, Wisconsin once sat, near Milwaukee (where Sunar City now sits.) Its third most populous city, Kayos, behind PP and SC, is located in the western Gryphonian Alliance, near what was once Sioux Falls. The country is divided between 7 states, Plasmadius (the capital district), Jaquun, Shivos, Middlemind, Obstell, Chardik, and Raexyon. Plasmadius consists of what was once central and southwest Wisconsin and has a large population, owing to the capital being placed in it. Jaquun consists of the former western coast of Wisconsin and northeastern half of Iowa. It contains Sunar City. Shivos is most of the former state of Illinois and its largest city is Churindrad (its former largest city, Ankhistan, was devastated by Zombie War I.) Middlemind consist of North Dakota, much of Montana and a bit of Manitoba. Its major city is Omehe, the former city of Bismarck. Obstell consists of much of South Dakota, eastern Wyoming, and the southwestern part of Iowa. Its largest city is Rapid City, the same as its prewar counterpart. Chardik consists of Minnesota and a small slice of South Dakota with its largest city being Kayos. Raexyon consists of northern Illinois and has its largest city at New Omaha, which is 50 miles north of the original Omaha, which was bombed to oblivion during WW3. It shares the Gryphonian Rainforest with Jaquun and Obstell.

Government Structure
The GA is divided into 7 states, each divided into Metropols of roughly equal population. Each Metropol is controlled by a single parliamentary body of 50 members, elected by electors representing towns/cities in the Metropol. Metropolic parliaments vote on a Representative to the state's House of Representatives. The federal level consists of an High Court (consisting of 7 judges), an Executive Cadre (presided over by the UltraPraetor), and the Federal Senate.
The Senate is composed of representatives from each state based on population, and are voted upon by each state's House of Representatives. The Senate proposes bills which pass through the UltraPraetor and the High Court before becoming law. The High Court is selected by the UltraPraetor and passed by the Senate. It makes sure new federal laws are lawful and acts as the highest appellate court. The Executive Cadre consists of the UltraPraetor and the Cabinet, consisting of the Prime Secretarians, which oversee the federal departments: Agriculture, Environment, Commerce, Interspace Activities, Defense, Education, Energy, Human Services, Gryphonian Security, Labor, Transportation, and Treasury. It also includes the Federal Attorney. The Prime Secretarians are chosen by the UP with High Court approval. They advise the president on various matters and the passage of bills, along with presiding over their individual federal departments. The UltraPraetor's job is to pass or veto bills sent from the Senate and to manage war efforts with the oversight of the Cabinet.
Current Leader: UltraPraetor Avé Qualtis
UltraPraetor Qualtis was born at Hatchery 465 in Hedrenbur, a suburban town near Plasmadius Prime. She attended school there and was eventually admitted to Fedurtil University in Javos, where she became immersed in political science. After graduating from Fedurtil, Avé ran for State Representative for the Plasmadius House of Representatives. Though her campaign was unsuccessful, she ran again for the next term and was successful. From there, Qualtis was appointed to the position of Prime Secretarian of Defense by then-UP Kashin Octubrenacht. After Kashin stepped down from office in 2117, Avé ran successfully for the office of UltraPraetor. Avé entered office with an approval rating of 55.2%. It has not yet been a full year for Avé Qualtis in the office of UltraPraetor, but she has promised higher defense spending and increased military interventions in foreign conflicts that directly affect Gryphonian relations or trade. Qualtis has promoted lower tax rates due to the recent mass international emigration of wealthy Gryphonians to countries with lower levels of taxation. Tax rates have plateaued at a relative high for several decades now, and Qualtis hopes to change this and bring the average down to 75%, from its current average at around 96%. Not much is known about Qualtis's education policy, but it seems she intends to continue the steady increase in funding to education that has been seen under the last several UPs. Avé has been a strong supporter of the current social welfare system since her Prime Secretarian days. It is unknown of what she has in store for the system in upcoming years. A firm believer in strong international relations, Avé seeks to increase military interventions in foreign countries and continue previous UP Octubrenacht's goal of reaching amicable relations with every country on the planet.
Military conflicts
The Z Mob (2039): After the natural death of revolutionary leader Suth Orim, his followers went on a rampage towards Plasmadius Prime. Subdued within a few months. 130 casualties. The Tasmanian Civil War (2060): Tasmanians fought off rebels with the assistance of Australian militias. The GA was primarily involved in rescue efforts. 3 casualties.
The Tangent War (2062): A short war between Erie Canal pirates and the nations of North America. Several pirate groups blockaded the Erie Canal, prompting a swift retaliation. A continental fleet including several Gryphonian Chrome battleships(produced under the Intervention Act of 2062) fought the pirates out of the canal within five weeks. 170 casualties.
The Zombie War (2075): A world-wide zombie epidemic reached the GA. Much of the nation was overrun, but many zombies were cured. Still, over 19 million people died, with over 30 million causalties in the Gryphonian Alliance alone. OOC: It corresponds to the NS Z-5 Event in 2016.
The Canary Meme Crisis (2087): A large amount of stable tritium was discovered near the Canary Islands. The dictatorial nation of Casatlan invaded the islands and began to construct hydrogen bombs. The GA detonated a small aurentum bomb offshore to intimidate Casatlan into withdrawing. They finally fled with the arrival of the Gryphonic navy. 7 casualties, mainly from the aurentum bomb.
The Earthspawn War (2094-2098): Several countries attempted the invasion of other nations to get land for their large populations. Chaos ensued. 6 million Griffins were killed. 23 million deaths, 55 million casualties worldwide. OOC: The nuclear bombings at the end correspond to the NS N-Day2 Event in 2017.
Zombie War II (2104): A new, more potent strain of the zombie virus evolved and rapidly spread, prompting a 34-day zombie war. This was perhaps the toughest war for Griffins, and perhaps the entire world at large. 123 million Griffins died, making this the deadliest war in Gryphonic history. In fact, 4 billion people died worldwide. OOC: Corresponded to NS Z-6 Event in 2017.
