The Natsgamra of Armagstan is a huge, cultured nation, remarkable for its space stations in Martian orbit, its government type, and its avowedly traditionalist populace. It was created on January 5, 2019, in The North Pacific, but currently resides in Red World.

Etymology

Armagstan's name derives from the ancient people group of the Armagans. In their language, "stan" roughly translates to "land."

History

Prehistory

Before 10,000 BCE, there are few records of Armagans. Indeed, few records exist of anyone living in what is now Armagstan. However, after 9,000 BCE, pottery was being produced. Shards of pottery from a cave near Tursunzoda, Tajik Province, date from approximately 8,700 BCE. Evidence of permanent settlement was recorded as early as 5,600 BCE, near Taraz, Kazakh Autonomous Province. By 3,100 BCE, they were trading with the Indians, Persians, and maybe the Chinese.

Rise of the Armagans

Around 2,850 BCE, writing was developed by a person who signed their name as Gham Shan. He recorded the first king list of Armagstan. From his writings, it appears that the first king reigned for over 300 years, with the next ten not far behind. It was not until approximately 1,500 BCE that king's reigns became "normal" and extensive trading occurred. The Persians conquered the region in the late 500's BCE, but were repulsed by 200 BCE. A Powerful man named General Wilturk commanded a nearly-invincible army of 40,000 horsemen to conquer large swathes of land and give the Armagans a real homeland. In 50 AD, the Armagans and Romans conquered Persia, splitting the land and establishing powerful trade links. The Armagans were able to help the Romans conquer all of Europe and Scandinavia, while the Romans helped them conquer Siberia and the Caucasus. This brought about their "golden age".

Paks Tel Armagan

The Armagans experienced a great deal of prosperity during their time allied with the Romans. Roman ideals traded places with Armagan ideals, and both empire together could have easily conquered the known world. When the Jews rebelled in 70 AD, the Armagans agreed to take in thousands of Jews, which hurt their economy and prosperity, but also strengthened their tied with Rome. Grand Shah Alzan (53-100) sponsored the move, calling it Ol pliguo wa-hanjan Jeuwy, or "The Jewish migration to a new land." The Jews quickly made themselves at home near modern-day Ashgabat, which remains an independent Jewish state to this day. Armagstan invaded Mongolia in 620, conquering the region, and then signed a non-aggression pact with the much stronger Qinglai Dynasty. Siberia came under the influence of Armagstan, and only the harsh terrain to the south kept Armagstan from conquering India. This was the golden age of Armagstan, the "Auguo Nakanwa Irmagsten." In fact, such peace was felt in Armagstan the the army was virtually nonexistent between 970 and 1023, during the reign of Grand Shah Jokhurnah II Alzan. However, in 1025, the Mongolians rebelled and became independent, beginning a slow downward spiral. In 1174, Grand Shah Josaf Alzan, the first Jewish Shah, was deposed in a military coup. The Mongolians immediately attacked, seeking revenge and with dreams of an empire.

Mongols

In 1175, the Armagans were defeated at the battle of Khotsugol Pass in Tibet. The Mongolians then went on to win battles at Caranoi, Turuk, and Liko. The Romans tried to intervene, but then found themselves stuck between Gaulish, Germanic, and Egyptian rebels. The relatively quiet and weak Sultanate of Makkah invaded Palestine and Sinai, crushing a combined Roman-Armagan force at the Battle of Jerusalem. When Rome was sacked by the Nigorites in 1187, Rome collapsed, and Armagstan surrendered soon after. The treaty of peace was signed in Alzanabar, the capital city, on September 9th, 1187.

The Mongolian occupation was harsh. Over 400,000 ethnic Armagans died, while 17,000 Jews, 80,000 Kazakhs, and 40,000 Uzbeks died. Minor rebellions in one village were crushed ruthlessly everywhere. The Mongols invaded China, Siberia, Persia, Arabia, Anatolia and Russia. India succumbed in 1279. Europe was battered by invasions nearly every year, but the Mongols retreated by August. Meanwhile, Francia became the dominant power, encompassing all of modern France, Germany, and the Benelux, parts of Italy, Britain and Spain, and even had outposts in Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea. Francia heavily supported the Armagan independence movement, and in 1302 executed an ingenious yet dangerous plan.

First War of Independence

On March 8, 1302, the Franks ambushed the Mongols at Rostov. The Mongols sent a huge force to Rostov, but the Franks had already left and met them at Volgagrod. On August 4 the Armagans rose up. The Kazakhs, Jews, and other tribes rose up in quick succession. India became independent. As the Mongols split into many different nations, the Armagans came out on top, conquering more land they had before. Francia, as the sole leader of Europe, called itself the Second Roman Empire, and allied itself with Armagstan. This alliance, however, was much harder to hold. In 1452, an outbreak of bubonic plague spread throughout Armagstan, killing 40% of the population and spread to Europe, China, and India. An estimated 14,000,000 people died out of the estimated 50,000,000 people alive at the time. Moscow, which was in the middle of an extremely cold decade, was barely affected, prompting an enormous invasion of the surrounding nations. They also wanted revenge on Francia. In 1476, Francia and Moscow clashed at the battle of Sumonter, modern Belarus.
