The People's Republic of Aspergards is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Eugene Goostman with a fair hand, and renowned for its pith helmet sales, daily referendums, and punitive income tax rates. The compassionate, democratic population of 1.635 billion Autists are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.
The enormous, liberal, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Altruistapolis. The average income tax rate is 95.0%.
The frighteningly efficient Aspergardsian economy, worth 250 trillion Asperaguses a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Arms Manufacturing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 152,995 Asperaguses, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.
Wind farms are erected on shuttered oil platforms, the tenet of free speech is held dear, wildlife near farms is slowly becoming extinct, and the military is recruiting war criminals to join its weapons research teams. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Aspergards's national animal is the Lima Bean, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
