The United States of Mexregiona, commonly referred to as Mexregiona or the USM, is a federal presidential republic composed of 46 identified and charted islands and a vast swath of the mainland of Atlantia (which makes up the majority of the land area). The nation borders no others. However, it shares waters with the countries of Prussia, Sydonia, Tretrid, The Atlae Isles, Infinite Loop, and Santo Corona.

Mexregiona is home to 50,911,569 inhabitants, about 75% of which live in urban areas, such as the capital: Dropdatderp, the seat of the government: Insulmin City, and the ever-sprawling city of Archopolis. With the exception of the newly founded Archopolis, nearly every settlement in the country has a deep, rich history to explain the culture and views of the community. The people in these cities and towns live by these ways, fulfilling the 'Mexregionan Dream,' a term coined by the first great leader of the nation, Mister Leader I.

The nation as a whole has had a long history, but, unfortunately, much of it wasn't recorded due to both the wars the early nation had and the relative abandon for writing. Instead of delving into the art of the written word, many early Mexregionans put their resources into the work of invention. Over time, modern scientists have discovered that the prehistoric peoples of the area were far more advanced than the rest of the world. At a time where other civilizations were just starting to discover democracy and set things in motion, Mexregionans were powering through an era of electricity and machinery. The problem, according to archaeologists, was that the factions of the land were far too determined to trip up the other that nobody got anywhere once the dawn of light and power started. Many feel that if Mexregiona had found the greatness of democracy sooner, the nation would've become the Pax-Draconica of the region; a force that one could try to prevent, but it will inevitably come over them sooner or later.

Modern Mexregiona is known for its pushes into the field of science; some of its achievements include the organization of NOTER and MASTeR (space agencies in the USM) and the construction of the 'Great Wall of Mexregiona,' a disturbingly huge line of stone and other building materials that stretches along the geologic spine of the Arch Archipelago, providing both security to Western Mexregiona and pushing the definition of the nation's influence.

ETYMOLOGY

The naming of the nation has been pondered by the leading interpreters of Mexregiona (not to mention the world) for decades. Although it is set in stone that the name has to do with the language of Latin, which many Mexregionans speak fluently, it is not known what the word means. Many believe that it is a variation of fused Latin vocabulary, while others think that it was originally a misunderstood, accented, native word that transformed throughout history. Still, a great many people say that the word has no meaning at all: perhaps, they say, it is simply a placeholder to describe what early peoples saw the land as. Although the mystery may never be solved, it is true that the word Mexregiona illustrates a very strong feeling of hope and patriotism.

HISTORY

INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Although there is no historical evidence that suggests it, it is generally assumed in the USM that the original inhabitants of the nation had been there since their placement on the Urth by alien peoples. The main theory of modern times is that the smaller islands of the Mexregionan Archipelago (Insulmin, Insulmag, Ingenlap, and Ferterra) were utilized as a reservation for displaced alien humanoids. From then on, as the aliens maintained habitation of the four islands and their waters, alternate populations of immigrants settled the 'Big Island' of Louisianaia. As the race outgrew the then-confined arable lands of the island, they underwent an amphibious invasion of the sibling lands. This included the island of Marpa, where many of the inhabitants surrendered and therefore aided the Northern troops with manpower. Most of the Small Islanders were slaughtered, but their descendants became the Southern Altalandians of today. Over the next handful of decades, the Northern and Central Altalandians (the Northerners being from Louisianaia and the Centrals from present-day Marpa) adopted the refined technologies of the Southern people. Over time, the archipelago's races became almost indistinguishable.

THE BEGINNINGS OF MODERNIZATION

Due to unknown causes, as, at this point, it was around 1,150 B.C., the Mexregionan Archipelago became a confederacy. Presumably following many devastating clashes between clans and proto-governments, the islands began to enjoy peace. There are no known documents stating the doings of this government, but historians agree that, in this period, major developments were made in diplomacy. The navy of the nation was improved significantly, and the construction of dams and canals were beginning to become quite commonplace amongst the Mexregionans.

MODERN TIMES

As a greater population of whites poured into the nation due to population growth in other nations, along with minorities, including blacks, the confederation peacefully relinquished power. Although it seems as if the government of the time wanted to hide the exchange, researchers have pondered that the early nation, although advanced for their general isolation, had yet to create a written language. Many believe this was the reason for the switching of power. So, on the date of February 28th, 2016, the forming of a new government took place. As the head of the nation stood Mister Leader I, the original and popular political figure of the country, and, with his aid, a constitution, bill of rights, and many declarations were made within the first week of his office. So, technically speaking, the USM is one of the newest nations on Urth; contrary to this, however, it is still considered one of the eldest due to its original government that grew the nation. Three thousand, one hundred, sixty-seven years is the unofficial age of the USM, in that case. The land area increased tremendously under the reign of Mister Leader I, and foreign relations were spread massively. Because of the man's progress, his successor, Mister Leader II (who is the current head of the United States), has been able to make giant leaps in both diplomacy and militaristic strength.

Due to the innovations of the Altalandians, the navy of the USM is particularly strong. Along with this is the great number of waterworks that inhabit the nation, especially the Mexregionan Archipelago. Also, there is a large sense of pride that fills the hearts of the modern Altalandians. Their history in the USM yields many festivals and celebrations.

LANGUAGE

The United States of Mexregiona has only one official language, which is Codexian Latin, a Romantic language that has an English base with major contributions from the tongue of Latin. However, the national language of the USM, contrary to its official counterpart, is pure-and-simple Codexian. Speaking this language, which is used in multiple nations around the Urth, allows Mexregionans to easily converse with peoples of other nationalities. Men and women who didn't grow up to learn the national language are typically fluent in the official speak, and vise versa. It is a high school requirement that, by the time of graduation, students are fluent in both ways of speech. If not, communication between many may become frustrating. Separate from the rest, there is a small portion of the Mexregionan population that is fluent in both languages before the end of high school; these citizens then have a choice to make, as there are a lot of languages on Urth. Most aim to speak Unionan, or the tongue of the Vekaiyun Union. Surprisingly enough, it is generally very simple for Mexregionans to get the hang of their speak, as both Codexian Latin and Unionan have Latin histories. In fact, in Vekaiyu, it is mandatory for students to learn Codexian, which makes talk even smoother between the two.

RELIGION

Religion in the USM is severely less prominent than in most nations of The East Pacific; the country has a ratio of 1:4, religious to non-religious, making it one of the most atheist countries on Urth. Of the 20% who are religious, however, three out of four report that they worship their religious entity 'severely,' which shows the faithful power of those twenty-percent. The cause for the steep drop in religion since the start of the nation is widely thought to be caused by the introduction of technology to the general public. Studies in Mexregiona show that, generally, the higher the HDI (Human Development Index) a community has, the less religious citizens turn out to be. It is to also be noted that a great portion of religious peoples in the nation seem to live in near or at rural areas. These facts may have informational and historical implications for historians and the like, but it is not entirely known what these implications might be.

GOVERNMENT

The USM is a Federal Presidential Republic that is divided into five distinct Parishes, or states, while six more are currently in the making. These five sections of the country each present a completely different legislative agenda, considering the people and geography of each Parish are nearly polar in differences at times. The five states make up the majority of what is considered the Mexregional Archipelago, and absolutely take up the area of the Five Islands [Louisianaia (being the largest and most influential), Insulmin (home of Insulmin City, seat of the government), Insulmag ('sister island' of Insulmin), Ferterra (locale for massive agricultural development), and Ingenlap (takes the cake for raw resources along the mineral spectrum)]. Each landmass has, from within, representative and military power, allowing each one the possibility of being its own country^[5]. Most of the change in the archipelago originates from Louisianaia and Insulmin, which are the most populated and politically worthy of the bunch, respectively. Inside Insulmin City is the governmental headquarters of the USM, Governmental Gully. Held in the Gully are the three branches of the nation: legislative, judicial, and executive. Unlike other Earth-ly states, the majority of the power in the nation is stored with the head of the country, the Mister [or Miss(us)] Leader. The current president of the USM concludes many decisions, most of which are external, such as things having to do with international relations. For instance, Mister Leader I had a part in the launch of the Hegemon Rocket, and Mister Leader II has had a playing in the procession of Project Longstorm, among other events, including the Treaty of Aura. It has been shown that the legislative division of the government is more tied to the internal half of the nation, such as the construction of the Great Wall of Mexregiona and the planning for the city of Archopolis.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Mexregiona maintains a hefty number of relations with other countries in The East Pacific, many of which are on different continents from other nations. Although the majority of Mexregionans, according to studies in Dropdatderp, consider Tretrid as being the nation's best friend, nations such as the Atlae Isles and the Commerce Federation also have strong ties with the government. Mexregiona has an one official and one unofficial 'Embassy City': Civilmagna being the official and Insulmin City being otherwise, and Mark Wallstrim is the Scrivener of the USM. EXPANSION

In the recent past, the USM has taken the role of a power in its geographical region. And, to maintain and grow upon this power, many citizens feel it wise to consider a Manifest Destiny in the near future. Their voices are getting heard, it seems. For instance, Mexregiona is currently involved in the colonization of Western Asendavia; the project has become an economic and diplomatic progression for the people of the nation, and the settlement there, currently named Best's Pilgrimage, is rapidly gaining traction. If the current growth of the outpost expands at the rate it is going now, it is predicted that the Pilgrimage could transform into a city-state within the borders of the Kingdom of Asendavia in the space of a couple of seasons. Mexregiona has also considered expansion into the interior of the continent an opportunity for the future, but little has been done in the recent past to push there.

VEXILLOLOGY

The original flag of the USM, the Glory of Mexregiona, symbolized the base orders of the nation. The blue on the flag illustrated the peace efforts of the nation, while the red showed the might of war the country had obtained over time. The centralized eagle also showed peace and war, and represented the sereneness of the people. The four yellow stars on either side of the banner act as the spirit of four Parishes: Insulmin, Insulmag, Ingenlap, and Ferterra. And, finally, the black star located behind the eagle is to show the power of the largest Parish: Louisianaia.

The current flag, the Veneration of Mexregiona, was created to smother discrimination between Parishes and Territories, as the Territories have been angered in the recent past for not being admitted into the Union. As far as details go, the change transformed the banner into something much simpler and easy to remember. Not only were colors shifted around throughout the work, symbols such as the eagle and the stars were removed (due to the aforementioned discrimination). Leaders and government officials generally believe it is also more pleasing to the common eye.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

Tretrid never borders the USM; instead, it is separated by Parish Bay: the delta of Lubricus Flumine. The Flumine is a prominent geographic feature for both nations, and provides a heavy trade route for international use.

Many locales in the USM, including, but not limited to, Insulmin, Insulmag, Ferterra, Ingenlap, and Dupliciminoriinsula, are supposedly based off the ancient language of Latin, which just goes to show the importance of the speak in the nation.

A Parish is the Mexregionan equivalent of a state; both terms, in this context, are used interchangeably.

The Scrivener of the USM is the nation's equivalent of a Minister; other than the president, he is the highest officer when it comes to diplomatic relations.

As of now, rather than being considered a city-state, Best's Pilgrimage is a diplomatic outreach area. It has little military standing but is armed with a hefty force of Mexregionan frontiers(wo)men. Within the first few days of its conception, planning for the settlement's infrastructure was already underway. The name of the Mexregionan outpost was inspired by the captain of the vessel that transported the colonists there, Danny Best. He is also one of the main overseers for the construction of the town.
