Geography

The Oan Isles is an island nation located in the Pacific Ocean. It lies to the east of Lazlowia. It has an area of 44,150km². The islands were formed volcanic activity at juncture of the Yasterian and Pacific continental plates. The islands have many rivers and streams, cliffs, hills and mountains, valleys and highland plateaus.

The Oan Isles have an average elevation of __ ft above sea level. The highest points is Mount Noa. It rises _ ft above sea level. The longest river is the _ River. It has a length of _ kilometres. a islands are made up of sedimentary rock due to the sedimentation of material over millions of years. They are unique since the volcanic activity that formed the islands has created a basalt layer tens of kilometres deep that forms the foundation of the islands.

Climate

The islands have a tropical monsoon jungle climate according to the Köppen climate classification system. The islands are often hot, rainy and humid. There are three seasons. Average precipitation lies at 60mm of rainfall. This can double in the wetest months and half in the dryest months.

Biodiversity

The Oan Isles has an array of biodiversity. There are many trees such as tree ferns, cycads, banana trees, palm trees, cone bearing trees such as the great kauri. There are reptiles such as turtles and tortoises, chameleons, and endemic skinks and geckos. There are mammals such as wild dogs, weasels and rodents. There are many birds such as fantails, tropicbirds, moa, cassowaries, kiwi, albatross, fantails, gennets, parrots and macaws. There are many amphibians of the Leiopelma group.

Politics

The Constitution forms the basis of the political system. The Crown is the source of the law of the land. Its power is divided among three branches: judicial, executive and legislative, that have checks and balances between them. The monarch is the head of state. He is a ceremonial ruler and figurehead known as the Emperor of Polynesia or the Rangitanga-ta-i-Moana.

The executive branch carries out laws. It is made up of the National Council. Each member is apportioned a part of the workload. Each member of the National Council is elected separately by the National Assembly. The National Assembly makes up the law making branch. The judiciary is made up of courts and tribunals, the largest among which is the National Court.

The country has five political parties. The largest party is the Pacifist Party. This party largely defends the status quo, proposing gradual changes in the government and policies of the land. The politics of the Oan Isles take place in the framework of a democracy. People have the right to present petitions to the National Assembly. They have various rights such as the right to freedom, expression, worship, identity and practice.
