Etymology
The name "Southern Isles" and its Danish counterpart, Sydlige Øer give the geographical location of Kingdom of the Southern Isls roughly. The exact time the name was given was unknown but the guess is that Old Norse and Germanic seamen ran across these isles which were south of their country in the Baltic and named them the Southern Isles, the name later sticking to the Danish seamen that inhabited and occupied the island.
