Development

Origins

Following the North Amerigan invasion of Dalpo, the need for an advanced fighter to counter so-called "fifth-generation" aircraft became apparent. The Dalpoan military approached the Prizyetsi Sverd Industries group and set forth requirements for an advanced fourth generation fighter aircraft capable of meeting the needs of the country and as such is deigned to counter the aircraft used during the brief conflict.

Design

Overview

Powerplant

Two powerful KJ94 turbofans power the PA-32 multirole fighter. Built with extensive use of lightweight materials, the turbofans produce an impressive 9,000 kgf while afterburners are on. The KJ94 engines were chosen for their excellent supercruise performance, allowing the aircraft to travel at high speeds efficiently. Additionally, the KJ94 engines offer thrust vectoring capabilities, which mean that the nozzles traverse both horizontally and vertically giving the aircraft good maneuverability at low speeds.

Sensors

The AEPA-35E radar system, demonstrating its wide scanning area.
The PA-32 is equiped with the export version of the brand new AEPA-35 (Radar) (Active Electronic Phased Array - mod. 35) radar, the "E" version. The AEPA-35E offers a wide range of frequencies to operate on, making it more resistant to jamming and other electric countermeasures (ECM). The system offers a far detection range, 150km for aerial targets and around 300km for surface targets, and has the capacity to track up to 30 targets simultaneously and target 6 targets. In addition, the radar is able to move +/- 70 degrees in elevation and azimuth. The radar system weighs 325kg. The AEPA-35 radar was specifically designed to be effective at targeting aircraft with so-called "stealth" features.

Additionally, the PA-32 is outfitted the OTS-84 electro-optical detection system. This sensor can detect, identify, and track multiple airborne targets simultaneously, and was specifically designed to spot aircraft with stealth features by watching out for infra-red signatures. An additional lens was also fitted to the OTS-84 system which allows it to target and guide air-to-ground weapons without the need for ground-based guidance systems. Another system which the PA-32 is equipped with is the RDS-G5 ultra-violet missile approach warning (MAW) system. This system can detect the heat given off my missiles as they are launched, and gives serves as an early warning system to protect the aircraft from enemy missiles.
