The Llorens Parliament is the unicameral legislature of the Federal Republic of Llorens, consisting of Parliament, the sole parliamentary house. 100 members are elected to one-year terms in Parliament through a single transferable voting system. The current Parliament is the 1st Parliament of Llorens.

The most recent election was held on June 24, 2016. This election elected all 100 members of Parliament. The most successful party was the Socialist Party, with 26 seats, and then the Green Party, with 22 seats. Consequently, the Socialist Party leader, Elisabeth Harland, was appointed as the 1st President of Llorens, and the Green Party leader, Josef Cervenka, was appointed as the 1st Vice-President of Llorens.

Procedure

Procedure of the Parliament

A proposed law is first submitted to the Llorens Law Commission, a panel of 20 experts, to be revised and amended. Eleven or more experts on the panel are required to apply a revision of the proposed law, though these decisions can be overturned with a 60% majority vote in Parliament. If the LLC decision is overturned by Parliament, the proposed law is returned to the LLC so that it can be changed in accordance with the new decision. Further amendments can be suggested in Parliament, and if at least 5 members have endorsed this suggestion, it will go to a Parliament majority vote. Each time a revision is accepted through the majority vote, the proposed law is returned to the LLC.

Once the proposed law has been finalised, a select 10 members will give a maximum 12-minute speech on their viewpoint of the proposal. After this maximum of 2 hours, all 100 members of Parliament may vote on the proposed law, though any member can abstain from the vote without affecting the number needed for it to pass. If 51 or more members voted in favour of the proposed law, it will be passed into legislation. If less than 51 members voted against the proposed law, it will not be passed into legislation.

Composition

The Parliament of Llorens consists of 100 members, commonly known as MP's (members of Parliament). There are 5 members that represent each of the 20 divisions. There are 4 divisions in each of the 5 states. The Parliament structure is an arch-shape, with the parties being positioned from left to right in descending number of members.

The leader of the party with the most seats is appointed President, and the leader of the party with the second most seats is appointed Vice-President.
