The Pokémon franchise first reached Torisakia and Gonzalez Isle in 1998 with the release of Pokémon Red and Blue Version and the airing of the anime.

Pokémon video games

All Pokémon games that have seen an international release have been released in Torisakia and Gonzalez Isle except Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team and Red Rescue Team, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness, and Pokémon Rumble World. Pokémon Tetris and Learn with Pokémon: Typing Adventure have also been released, despite not seeing a release in North America. The Torisakian releases are usually some time after the American release dates, typically two or three months. This time frame was longer before the release of Pokémon X and Y Version, which allowed the player to choose their preferred game language, due to localization to Native Torisakian and a law that requires video games released in two languages to be released on the same date.

Games released in English are usually left unedited because American English typically coincides with Torisakian English. Sometimes the Native Torisakian versions have English words left in them for localization sake. For example, the Native Torisakian names for Pikachu and Pachirisu look and sound the same and thus their names are left in English to avoid confusion.

Event Pokémon

Event Pokémon were not released inside Torisakia or Gonzalez Isle until 2003 with the release of {Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Version. Events, such as the Deoxys event, were held at BlueBeach Games stores across the country, where players owning Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Version and Pokémon Emerald Version were able to download the AuroraTicket. Recently, WiFi events have made it much easier for Torisakian players to obtain event Pokémon. Before this, very few events were held in the country. Making it virtually impossible to obtain all Pokémon in the games, which is the 'goal' of the entire series. In-store events have become more popular with the release of Pokémon X and Y Version.

Pokémon anime

The Pokémon anime debuted in Torisakia and Gonzalez Isle on November 2, 1998 on the iON4 and iON4T channel. Part of the worldwide phenomenon had already reached the country with the release of the show in the United States almost two months before. Two versions of the anime were aired, an English dub produced by 4Kids Entertainment on iON4 (in Gonzalez Isle, viewers had the option to turn on Spanish subtitles), and a Native Torisakian dub produced by HimuBuauch Entertainment on iON4T. Despite the low quality of them at the time, the Native Torisakian dub generally recieved positive reviews.

While the Pokémon movies are regularly released theatrically in Japan, only Pokémon: The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back was released in theaters in Torisakia and Gonzalez Isle. All other movies have premiered on television and released straight to video and DVD.

List of Native Torisakian opening themes

This is a list of Native Torisakian opening themes of the Pokémon anime.

  • The Native Torisakian dub did not use a different opening for Pokémon: Adventures in the Orange Islands (EP081-EP116). Instead, the Pokémon: Indigo League opening was continued.

iON4

iON4 logo since 1997
iON4 is a television network in Torisakia known for its variety broadcasting. The network was lauched in 1993 by Piwcir Corp. The station airs a cartoon block before and after school (5:00AM-9:00AM TST and 3:30PM-7:00PM TST respectively) on weekdays and on Saturday mornings (6:30AM-12:00PM TST). The same was for sister channels iON4T which aired the Native Torisakian.

iON4 aired episodes from the 4Kids Entertainment English dub from 1998 to 2008. The first episode aired was Pokémon, I Choose You! on November 2, 1998. The network aired every episode from season 1 through season 8. Piwcir Corp used iON4 in promotion with the Pokémon movies.

On March 27, 2008, Piwcir Corp announced that it was dropping all foreign imported cartoons from its lineup on all channels. This meant that Pokémon and many other cartoons would no longer be aired by the network. The series would move to Cartoon Network Torisakia, which is owned by TimeWarner via its' Turner Broadcasting division, managed by Ted Turner, on March 31st. In 2011, Piwcir Corp announced that they would allow foreign imported cartoons back into their lineup; however, Pokémon (except the Native Torisakian and Spanish dub, which had replaced the English dub with Spanish subtitles for Gonzalez Islean viewers) was not brought back and remained on Cartoon Network Torisakia instead.

Cartoon Network Torisakia

Cartoon Network is a cable network owned by Time Warner that carries the Pokémon anime meta series. The channel was launched on October 1, 1992 after Turner purchased the animation studio Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1991. They started with Pokémon: Battle Dimensions on May 21, 2008. They picked up the series after iON4 dropped the series in its efforts to focus more on series produced in-country.

Previously, they had aired reruns of episodes from the anime's earlier seasons, such as Master Quest. As of June 2012, almost every season has aired on Cartoon Network Torisakia. Pokémon Chronicles was not aired on Cartoon Network Torisakia and was aired on corporate sibiling SsekunsWirrsPles in 2006. New dubbed episodes of Pokémon the Series: XY are currently aired on Saturday mornings at 8:00AM TST. As of February 2015, it repeated old episodes every weekday afternoon at 4:00PM TST.

The openings and endings to the series usually stay the same with their counterparts on other international Cartoon Network channels, with the end credits sped up and epilogues from movies omitted.

Other video streaming

The first two seasons of Pokémon are available on Nusflol and Vokui, popular TV show and cartoon streaming services in Torisakia, as of March 2015. Only the first, third, and fourteenth movie are available on Vokui. None are available on Nusflol.

Pokémon manga

Most Pokémon manga in Torisakia and imported from the United States, where VIZ Media, based out of San Francisco, California, has licensed and translated several Pokémon manga titles , including The Electric Tale of Pikachu and Pokémon Adventures. GaumuUph Media has translated manga for a Native Torisakian and Spanish release.

Pokémon Trading Card game

An English and Native Torisakia translated version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game has been sold in Torisakia and Gonzalez Isle since the release of Base Set in 1999 and still continues to be released. Most of the English language cards are imported from the United States, in which most do not correspond to the Japanese sets they are translated from. Both English and Native Torisakian card tournaments are legal in Torisakia and Gonzalez Isle.

Pokémon merchandise

Pokémon merchandising has been handled by BleuBuauch since 1998. Toys and merchandise are commonly imported from Japan; however, toys and merchandise made by BlueBuauch has become more popular over the past decade. There are currently no Pokémon Center stores in Torisakia or Gonzalez Isle, with no plans to construct on as of April 2015.

Events

There have been many promotional events for Pokémon throughout Torisakia and Gonzalez Isle. Most include game demos, event Pokémon, special promotional cards, and more. A nation-wide tournament for the video games and trading card game has been held every year since 2000 in Tokai, with the winners of each recieving T$250,000 and a shiny legendary Pokémon. These tournaments have fallen under heavy criticisms since their launch from sources claiming that they teach children how to gamble and promote bad sportsmanship.
